I remember when the U.S was leading the charge to identify other countries' assaults on human rights...

It is an atrocity, in the formal sense of that word. I give a decent share of that blame to Trump for it, but I think I actually blame Congress more. Immigration policy has been dysfunctional for a long time. Congress is long overdue for reforming it. Unfortunately, they've left it so long it has gangrened, its become so politically toxic that it will take something heroic to get any change at all. Administrations have been left to make policy that gives them what they think they want, but they can't really have it until there is legislation.

    LOLHAHAHA!

Because England is such a violent, corrupt cesspool with no economic incentive for which Americans can immigrate to. Thanks for the laugh. :D

It seems to me like you are going at this from the wrong angle. You keep posting information about how bad it is in Mexico. That's not a reason to restrict immigration, that is a reason to take in refugees, asylum seekers etc.

The more you post about horrible situations in Mexico the more I think how we have so much more here, that we should open up and take in some additional immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.

I don't think that's the point you are trying to make.

It absolutely is a reason. It is an unfair trade.

We give and we give and we give. We have given Mexico 25 years of NAFTA -- sent manufacturing jobs to Mexico and reduced prices on food for Mexicans to import. We have even allowed in millions of legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.

And here is how Mexico repays us: a homicide rate of 27.5 per 100k while selling us the most addictive drugs in the world.

Yeah, time to reduce Mexican immigration.

    You aren't making any sense.

    1. We didn't allow in millions of illegal immigrants. There may be millions of illegal immigrants here but we didn't allow in millions of illegal immigrants.
    2. Their high homicide rate isn't repayment for anything. It is only bad for the folks that live in areas of Mexico with high homicide rates. The immigrants coming over here are escaping that.
    3. NAFTA has helped us almost quadruple our trade with trading partners in NAFTA. It went from 142 Billion to 525 Billion during NAFTA. It reduced tariffs and lowered prices for consumers here as well. The lack of tariffs meant our industries that export to Mexico benefited and grew as well. It is estimated that NAFTA created 5 million new U.S. jobs.

You are correct that Mexico also benefited from NAFTA but it wasn't as if they are the only ones benefitting from the deal. The U.S. has gotten a lot out of it as well.

Your argument doesn't make sense. You aren't saying that every Mexican immigrant here is a murderer from Mexico, are you?

You teach Los Angeles Unified students with that kind of reasoning? I mean, the only reason LAU isn't the worst major school district in the US is because of Detroit. You should thank Detroit.

Wouldn't everybody be happy if we changed immigration policy to decrease illegal immigration with strong borders, but increased legal immigration? Open up "Ellis Island" centers along the border and process immigrants coming in. Do background checks, assign them a taxpayer ID filed with the IRS, and then grant them some kind of alien worker status. They can work, pay taxes, and contribute. If they are good citizens, pay their taxes, and don't commit crimes they can apply for quick citizenship in 3-4 years.

The US needs immigration to keep a labor class (young US citizens tend to not want to work manual labor), and continue some population growth so our economy stays strong. When you stop having babies to replace current citizens, then your economy stagnates.

So build a dang wall (or not), but offer a good way for workers to become productive residents...and a path to citizenship for those that are productive. Doesn't everyone win? Keeps out MS-13 and cartels, keeps ranchers in Texas from having their homes invaded once a month, encourages people to pay taxes on their earnings instead of just mailing it back to Mexico or wherever, and allows a pathway to citizenship for the non-criminal, hard working people.

LOL. So Mexico is suppling the demand we create?

Obviously being a Narco State is something that the US should be jealous of....

It’s impressive how stupid of an argument you make.....

Apparently the US is simultaneously being taken advantaged of and is out performing other countries. Who wouldn’t want to be Mexico?

    Lolololol

I am also really concerned about the million illegals from China/India/Korea that have infested the USA by pouring into America.

Please tell me how the Trump wall will deal with these miscreants.

Also, what about the 75% of illegals that did not cross the border illegally?

Perhaps we can increase the ICE budget and have more random identification stops to catch them all before they run and hide like roaches in the shadows.

    They are two separate issues.

The wall keeps guns out of Mexico — reducing the cartels power — in addition to reducing human and drug trafficking to the US.

Reducing Mexican immigration would (hopefully) reduce the number of border crossings. After all, it is the busiest border in the word.

I never thought you would stoop down to @FranchiseBlade’s level, but there you are.
