Detroit didn't make the list, shocking!!!! Dirty New Yorkers/ so much for us being the Dirty souf, we got the 10 spot...
The only reason I can see that Detroit isn't on there is that it was voted on by travelers. Who travels to Detroit on purpose?
Of course Houston made the American Lung Association's top 10 worst ozones. With the oil industry in town, it's hard not to. And then you have what seems like 2/3 of the city smoking all over the place. That's my biggest complaint about Houston. At times, it's like you can't get away from cigarette smoke.
Smokers have been kicked outside of every bar and restaurant in Houston and most surrounding areas. How do you have a hard time getting away from it?
[Raspy Voice] What's your problem? But yes, I agree. I get in elevators with these middle aged women that take 6 cigarette breaks a day. Disgusting.
It's not just the industry. I'm vague on details now because I learned this a long time ago, but we (and LA) have a geography that keeps the pollution in town, whereas a place like Chicago disperses air pollution more easily. As for smokers, every trip I take out of the country reminds me how well the US has tamped down on smoking.
Yup. People complaining about smoking should really visit some developing countries where 99% of the population smoke, from elementary age all the way to the old crippling age. In fact finding non smokers is like finding a virgin in a frat orgy.
Very surprised that D.C. isn't on the list. When I was a child, I remember that place being immaculate. I traveled there about a year or two ago and it was a ****ing dump. My childhood memories were ruined.
When I think of Houston the first thing that comes to my mind are the Burgers & Antiques, good call Travel & Leisure!
Everyone knows that New York is number one because the smoking ban was a misstep. The real problem was sugary drinks. Bloomberg is fixing it.
Meanwhile in D.C. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jm2c_vsmUjg?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
