Backstory: I've been doing some serious running lately (10-20 miles regularly).

My last run was fine but afterwards my knee felt uneasy so I decided to take a few days off. Today while walking down a flight of stairs, I felt excruciating pain on the right side of my right knee. It doesn't hurt to put my weight on the leg, but now I physically cannot bend it (not just pain, but it actually won't bend). The knee doesn't hurt until I make the slightest move now.

    Did I tear it?

I have torn my ACL before so I have some experience here.

Did you hear hearing a loud pop? How is the pain level? Is there knee swelling? Do you have difficulty walking?

With a torn ACL you almost wouldn't be able to walk. My suggestion is to ice it overnight and then go take a MRI first thing tomorrow.

It could also be a mild knee ligament injury which can heal given time. RICE is your friend

    Rest
    Ice
    Compress
    Elevate

doesn't sound like an ACL tear. If it's an ACL tear, it will be wobbly if you push your shin front to back.

Sounds like a meniscus to me.

I didn't hear a loud pop nor was that a specific moment that I feel something snapped.

Just laying down the pain is minimal, but moving it at all causes significant pain. I can only walk by keeping it entirely straight and swinging it out with each step, and my girlfriend had to help me up each step.

Could be a meniscus, although it's more rare to tear the lateral one. Also, mine hurt, but I kept moving, working out, and going up stairs on it. It was only years later, when I had stopped working out, and tried to start again, that the torn flap would get caught in the joint and lock my knee up. That's when I had surgery. Wasn't a bad surgery or recovery.

Maybe your case is similar? Ever injure your knee before?

I've torn my ACL in one knee and meniscus in the other. The pain was the exact same both times and there was major swelling.

Playing football, right?! Now it all makes sense. FTW was never invited back on the grid iron, so now he desperately asks for attention, again.

Let's all show our sympathies..I'll start

Hey, one time in band camp, I tore my ACL before

Exactly. Watched a buddy of mine tear his, only to try and go back into the game a few plays later.

The tell-tale test on an acl, as far as I remember from college, is to try and backpedal as fast as you can. If your acl is torn, you're almost guaranteed to fall.

I have little to no swelling in it. I've been icing and elevating it since I got home though.

My major concern is that I feel like I can't bend it. It's painful for about two or three inches and then just seems to stop and not go any further....

What kind of doctor do you normally go see for this stuff?

You should see a proctologist first.

You should see a doctor, but I'd bet it's tendinitis.

Based off the running background, sounds like your IT band. Get a foam roller and take two months off and reevaluate
