All I remember from his time at the Chronicle were the inflammatory and 'gawd i'm such an insider' articles. Granted this was a human interest fluff piece, but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
It was a fluff piece on a baseball writer getting into the hall of fame with the hook that Johnny Bench gave him a pep talk before his acceptance speech. Nothing groundbreaking, but I found it to be a heartwarming article.
Richard has an interesting sense of humor. You can't take him literally. He is w/o a doubt a great sports writer. There's a reason he's won Texas Sports Writer of the Year twice.
The dude spent his last three years at the Chronic effectively auditioning for his new job, and the amount of water carrying he did for MLB was pathetic.
