At this point, _OFs are here to stay. They are a fact of life. But are you one? Af first glance, the _OF phenomenon seems to have started with the arrival of Jeremy Lin (I certainly don't remember any Piatkowski-Only Fans, for example). But thinking it over, I'd say Yao Ming ushered in the era. Sure, there were many, many folks here on ClutchFans who were convinced Yao would be a bust and likely never start a single NBA game, much less develop into a reliable star, but the _OF designation doesn't mean that nobody dislikes a particular player. Instead, it means that some people care ONLY about him, and are positively livid that anyone in their right mind would dislike the guy. And most of all, they only care about the team if their guy is the shining star. So I developed a simple 10-question test to determine if you're a _OF: 1. Is your CF avatar a pic of your guy? 2. Does your CF handle include your guy's name? 3. Do you get bent out of shape if someone doesn't understand your guy is the unquestioned "franchise" player? 4. Would you feel hurt and maybe cry if the team acquired a huge star who would likely overshadow your guy? 5. Does your Twitter/X feed consist solely of the voices singing your guy's praises, yet you maniacally seek out and confront commenters who disagree? 6. Do you scream every game because it's obvious the refs are totally biased against your guy (and only him), and love it when he complains all game long? 7. Have you contributed a minimum of 50 posts to the "Your Guy is the Rockets' franchise player" thread? 8. If the Rockets traded your guy, would you move on and become a fan of his new team? 9. If the Rockets won a title with your guy coming off the bench or injured, would it feel bittersweet? 10. When someone on CF starts a "Sexy pics of Your Guy" thread, do you get a little sexually excited instead of laughing? If you answered "yes" to any of the above, you are likely a _OF and may want to consider contacting a mental health professional.* *Be sure to check their social media feed first to be sure they're not a Your Guy hater.

Is this a sneaky, “SOFs Were Right and I Haven’t Eaten My Crow Yet,” thread? Because if it is, in many cases, those crazies were closer to the truth than the "reasonable ones" on here that were tossing Alperen in every damn trade machine. Or pining for Bruno Fernando and Mo Bamba (measurables) to pair with KPJ in an anti-Princeton offense. Yuck. (It is awfully quiet in here now...) I'd make the case that the fans that toss their own HOUSTON drafted rookies into every damn trade while they are teenagers are the Houston imposters. Remember hearing the word "archetype" every damn day? Good lord. In the good old days, we'd appreciate our young fellas and let them grow with the city. We would have their damn backs.
