Desantis seeks to punish Disney for disagreeing with him

Yeah I’ve never been a fan of you have to pick sides between DeSantis or Disney. It’s part of the zero sum game political culture that we have.

 

Agreed. Disney didn't do anything material to sink DeSantis. His campaign collapsed all by itself. Disney just stuck to its knitting, which I guess is to their credit.

 

I can't have too much glee at Ron DeSatanist dropping out, but I can picture Mickie, Minnie, Donald and Goofy waving good-bye in a new commercial for Disney.

Scary we only have Orange Jesus Mussolini and Nikky Haley left. What, is Trump going to put the White House presidential desk in his prison cell, rule it like some incarcerated Brazilian drug kingpin?

To think no one has the guts outside of Colorado or Maine (which SCOTUS will likely overturn anyway?) to use the actual Constitution to keep Trump from running, and that so-called Christians (let's call them White Christian Nationalists) and con-men are his main backers.

To be be blunt we have to elect the Democrat which barring something unusual is going to be Joe Biden.

Biden is far from the perfect candidate. He’s older than rocks, he says and does goofy stuff. He has though gotten a lot of bipartisan legislation passed abided by Constitutional norms even when they’ve been in the way of his agenda.

Even if he didn’t get any of that legislation passed I would still vote for him over Trump. What I said in 2020 is even more true now. I would vote for a toaster before I vote for Trump.

Since 2020 Trump has proven to be more of a

A federal judge Wednesday dismissed Disney's lawsuit alleging Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his allies retaliated against the company for criticizing legislation he backed, a blow to the entertainment giant in its long-running battle with the governor.


Disney sued the defendants over a pair of laws targeting a special tax district covering the land that houses Walt Disney World. At DeSantis’s urging, Florida’s Republican-led legislature effectively ended Disney’s control of the district—which lawmakers renamed the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District—and gave the governor the ability to handpick its five-member supervisory board.

Disney alleged that the actions improperly retaliated against the company for opposing a DeSantis-backed law restricting classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation, violating Disney’s First Amendment rights. DeSantis and Republican lawmakers said their actions were aimed at reining in excessive privileges that Disney had secured over decades.

In a 17-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Allen Winsor granted a motion to dismiss the case, saying that elements of Disney’s case both lacked standing and failed on the merits. It was a victory for DeSantis, who has been locked in a legal battle with Disney over corporate power, governmental control and freedom of speech.
