I don't believe this. The Knicks would come out as big winners, but I would welcome it.

The deal that I've seen on the table is DSJ + Wes Mathews for Fournier, Simmons, and a 1st round pick (probably protected).

This would be a really good trade for the Mavs. They dont need Ntilikina to handle the ball, and they can groom him to be a PG stopper a la Beverly. Plus, Hardaway Jr. is a great scoring wing.

Knicks get someone to put more butts in seats until Kristaps heals up. Matthews is a shell of his former self tho.

A bit surprising they don't handle it like the Harden-CP3 situation. Playmaking duties can easily be shared, and Carlisle is a damn good competent coach.

I feel like there's something more under the surface.

DSJ seems to have a super inflated idea of his value. Who is he anyway? A second year who isnt any good.

The guy who just tore his ACL achilles?

    Not nice Mark.

He's ($3.7M) expiring. Just keep him Mark.

What's up with hyperathletic combo guards being malcontents? That archetype will never go away.

Before the draft a lot of people speculated the Mavs wanted Frankie N. The Knicks end up grabbing him and Dallas gets Smith. Dallas says "he was our guy all along." Then you look at Carlisle, and know that Smith fit is bad (whereas Frankie N would have been good).

I am sure Dallas wants a FRP for Smith. Recoup the costs. But it is sounding like that is not out there. Perhaps only 2nd round picks. Sorry Dallas.

I hope Dallas has a sunk cost here. Screw them.

    I didn't know he was a malcontent.
