Anybody watching this? Sock lost the first 2 sets of the opener to Cilic but he leads 5-2* in the 3rd set.

Cilic is currently having a medical timeout, Sock has a small chance here.

2nd rubber is Isner v Cilic which should be a USA win

What a fantastic match. Sock recovered from 2 sets down and then went 3-0 down in the deciding set. Recovered to win 6-4 saving 2 break points while serving for the match. Great stuff, USA huge faves for the tie now

Setback for the US today with the Bryans going down to Cilic/Dodig.

I watched most of the match, and it wasn't really a case of the Bryans playing poorly. Cilic and Dodig really just played (and in particular, served) incredibly well.

To me, this now becomes a toss-up with Isner taking on Cilic and Sock up against Coric if it goes to the fifth rubber.

Cilic and Isner have similar games, but Cilic is a better all-around player than John, and outside of losing a two sets to love lead against Sock on Friday, he's in better form than John right now, as he made it to the quarters at Wimbledon.

If it goes to the fifth, that's a lot of pressure on Sock, who's already something of an up-and-down player. And the stakes in that match could exacerbate the issue a bit. He's a better player than Coric as it stands today, but the consensus is that the 19-year-old Coric is a potential future Grand Slam winner, so it wouldn't be a huge shock if he rises to the occasion and puts together his best match of the year.

Long story short, the US really needed the Bryans to close it out on Saturday to avoid a tense Sunday finale, but that's what we're going to have on our hands.
