Was listening to a podcast talking about Firewalk with me and I realized I had never really watched Twin Peaks or the remake. I love Lynch but I watched him when I was much younger and need to do a rewatch and watch some movies that I missed. My top Lynch vehicles are Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart Eraserhead Dune. I don't think I ever watched Mulholland Drive. Inland Empire was too strange and long even for me at that age. So what are your favorite Lynch projects, and where do you rank him as a director?
It's weird that I never really got into his stuff since it's right up my alley. My friend got me into Twin Peaks back in the day, and watched all of it except for a few moments back and forth. I've also seen Lost Highway mostly because I got the soundtrack on CD that had alot of songs I liked. Other than that though it's shocking how little I've seen of his stuff. I guess I need to go back and binge or something. Wish a streamer would organize a channel of his content the way HBO Max has done with Kubrich, etc.
I really loved Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart. Don't sleep on The Elephant Man and Lost Highway. Heheh.
I think I have seen Lost Highway, but I need to go back and watch it with some uh "Libations" and adult eyes. Elephant Man is one of those movies for me that you have seen so much in clips you think you know the movie especially since I know the actual true story.
I just found out that Lucas wanted Lynch to direct Return, he agreed but decided to do Dune instead. Can you imagine that?
Lynch uberfans will hate me for this, but Eraserhead is not a good movie. You should definitely check out Mulholland Drive.
I want to think I have seen this before, but nothing in the trailer makes me remember it. It's been awhile, and I am able to look at it with more mature eyes now. I remember Justin Theroux and not much else, I definitely don't remember Billy Cyrus. Eraserhead is just so out there, I appreciate it.
Yeah, I "liked" the lady in the radiator, and I think the sound design was super interesting as an experiment, but ... no bueno.
The original Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive are the two things I think of immediately when it comes to Lynch. I recommend them.
An old friend of jomama and mine was so influenced by David Lynch that it drove his whole aesthetic and he was even able to record for a Lynch production https://consequence.net/2017/09/the...avid-lynch-and-whats-next-for-chromatics/amp/ old article. John’s a mess and never released dear tommy.
lol - meant whole, but with him - I'm betting it's bleached and has three dots tattooed beside it for his lost loves
