edward, this is ridiculous. ward had a bad year??? no, ward had a bad career. there was serious question, not just among management but among his teammates, that he didn't give a damn. that he wouldn't get in shape...that he wouldn't work at all in the offseason. the guy was summarily shipped off to the WORST offense i've seen in a long time (last year's Dodgers) and couldn't even find a spot in their freaking lineup he was so bad. he's doing well now...good for him....maybe he's found a place in pittsburgh where he can flourish. i hope so. but my bet is that this is a streak...and that you won't see this sort of production from him over the long haul. by the way...there ain't no way in the world this guy cracks the Astros lineup right now...i'm not moving Berkman or Hidalgo out of the lineup for Ward.
I'm an idiot. I had already typed "You've got to be f...ing" before my sarcasm meter went off. I need some more coffee.
C'mon guys, this guy should have been productive a heck of long time ago... I'm gald he's gone, he sucked arse big time...
they had the third base coach hold an ice cream sundae. they just got really lucky that he actually touched second.
clearly you weren't watching closely enough. sure the ball hit a crease. but you drastically underestimate the ice cream factor.
My bad, I saw the highlight on ESPN one time, I didn't catch the coach holding the ice cream, I saw something in his hand but didn't see what it was. Speaking of ice cream, my new Blue Bell fav is Birthday Cake.
Don't knock Anthony. I do believe that he and Willie Stargell are the only two hitters to hit one in the upper deck in the Dome (near the right foul pole).
Daryl Ward getting and approaching his full potential is one thing but hitting a tripple is another. I never thought that that would happen during his career. The game scorer may have be lenient because I am sure that the rightfielder commited an error that allowed D-ward to reach 3rd-base.
