Don't care that we have to eat his salary or that in today's drubbing by the Cardinals he wasn't the reason we lost. This guy is an absolute gas can and Hinch can't help but put him into games. Since the manager can't help himself, the GM needs to step in.
The Astros problems run much deeper than Tony Sipp. The fact they're above .500 with substandard production out of 2 outfield spots, 1st and/or 3rd (whichever one not manned by a healthy Valbuena) and the last two months of Springer is a miracle. That doesn't even touch the starting pitching staff which by and large has not been good this year.
I picture Sipp like early-season Giles. If there's some mechanical flaw that he can figure out he'll be right back to normal. At this point i'd give him the off-season to see if he can recover.

If average and strikeouts were good indicators of a players performance, I would agree with you. However, there are so many better indicators, almost all of which say they are an above average duo. It would be difficult to match their production elsewhere.
Still doesn't excuse the poor hitting they both should be hitting the ball better last year Carter was hitting around the same as they are but no one is calling for them to be cut what changed.
Carter wasn't a catcher. What part of "3rd in the AL in OPS" seems cut-worthy? That's basically the definition of excellent hitting.
The people that want to just cut Castro and Gattis loose obviously have no idea what the situation is right now for major league catching. They just watch the Astros and assume everyone else has better catching situations, which couldn't be farther from the truth (I just hate Castro being lazy behind the plate and complaining about pitches everytime he takes strike 3) it would be tough to improve our overall catching situation
So you would prefer someone who is actually worse then? Cause if we cut Castro and Gattis, the results would a lot worse, and there really isn't any doubt about that
They have been bringing up guys all year that haven't cut it why not bring up another catcher to see if they can get in base.
