that Japanese waiter was priceless. David, personality wise, reminds me of myself, well, hope I'm not that bad, lol.
I like the show, but I think I have to be in the mood for it. Sometimes it gets a little annoying and I say out loud "what a ****** idiot", but that's only when I'm already pissed off. I don't think it's as good as Seinfield, but still good. I just think it's a little too unrealistic at times (talking about the decisions the guy makes. Blowjob in the car episode was hilarious though.
This show and the one following it, Mind of the Married Man are the best one-two punch in all of TV, imho.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is like Seinfeld Lite (all the great laughs but not the high priced actors) I think it's pretty damn funny but the wife hates it. I think it's pretty funny how he gets himself into those situations. There was also a small 'behind the scenes' documentary a couple of weeks ago and alot of the scenes are improvised. They start with an idea, a set and some basic dialogue then they just play off each other and ad lib... I think the show's genius. rH
I was going to post this thread a few weeks ago... this show definitely rocks.... that show about the Joan Collins glasses or the child abuse meeting (where David makes something up when he's just sitting in to support his friend) still leave me rolling. for some reason my wife hates it too rockHead. We watched that Mind of the Married Man show a few months ago (or last season???) anyway, it just seems like a show about cheating on your wife.. it doesn't seem to exciting to me.
"Maybe I'm all tapped out." I hope they come out with the episodes on DVD like they did with Sex and the City.
He decided to fire his shrink because he saw his shrink in a thong at the beach. The episode that hooked me in was when he decides to sell new cars for a week. He asks everybody what their name is, and then says he knows someone with that same name! Crazy sh*t.
The show is hard for me to like. It seems kinda Woody Alleny. A little too much whining, kinda slow. Last night's episode was ok, I probably only liked it because I had just got through watching a great episode of "Band of Brothers". BTW - Woody Allen's "Small Time Crooks" is great!
I too am an HBO w****. It must be a women thing about Curb Your Enthusiasm, because my ex-gf gets annoyed just hearing the opening music to it. I'm trying to figure out why I find his wife disturbingly hot. Porno Gill from last season is my fave episode. Although the ass one is right up there. You c**t! You c**t! You're such a c**t!
here's the page for the show on the HBO website http://www.hbo.com/larrydavid/ here's a link to Larry's wife (on the show) http://www.hbo.com/larrydavid/cmp/cheryl_hines.shtml
What the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan is for drama, the last 3 minutes of that episode of CYE is for comedy. What Cheryl's father yelled out had me off the couch and on my knees.
Trying really hard to make it through Season 1 but man, this dude is just a terrible person, huge *******, mean, neurotic....I know that George from Seinfeld was based on him but George was sort of a putz and owned that. Larry David is just a prick. There are some good bits that made me laugh but overall his dialogue scenes are cringe AF. Does it get better?
