That would be lying though. She has to report that she is a DACA recipient that has now been married to a US citizen, which then land her into a maze of immigration laws. If she lied, she would have to invent paperwork on where she was born, how she got to the state and all sort of law breaking activities.
https://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-mexico-border-crisis-mcaleenan-20190327-story.html Border Patrol is doing large releases of migrants in custody because they are well over capacity in their facilities and ICE won't pick them up. ICE won't pick them up because they are also over capacity. One, this sounds like a real crisis. Two, it sounds ripe to be a political football. I expect to hear from Democrats that Trump's policies are inhumanely detaining families that should be released on their own recognizance. I expect to hear from Republicans that CBP is being overwhelmed by migrant families and we need a wall to keep them from crossing the border in the first place. No one will agree and we'll get the worst of both worlds -- first we'll make migrants suffer for a time in inhumane holding conditions and then we'll release them on their own recognizance anyway. We really need Congress to make a real immigration reform bill that is a compromise between House Democrats and Republican Senators, and Trump needs to actually sign it. Right now, the Admin is trying to enforce something they don't have the tools to enforce, so they're just hurting people without gaining any benefit.
DHS to ask Congress for sweeping authority to deport unaccompanied migrant children https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna988651?__twitter_impression=true link to the letter: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/5783204-Secretary-Nielsen-Letter-to-Members-of-Congress.html
Its not just the lie, as a way to defend his cruel policies and selfish obsession with getting his vanity wall built, but the inhumanity of his lies is thoroughly reprehensible...
Redacted. NewRoxFan said immediately above, more directly, what I meant to say, which essentially is that cruelty is the point.
Send them back. No reason for people from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador to come to the US to seek refuge. The nearest non-dysfunctional "safe" country would be Nicaragua. Costa Rica and Panama are also closer than the US and quite safe...and not dysfunctional, unlike Mexico. I can definitely understand why hundreds of thousands of Central American migrants have walked 700 miles through Mexico to reach the US...barefoot. There is no such thing as a Central American refugee.
Illegals continue to take advantage of it, I can't understand why the US is demonized for not using force while they intentionally try to game the system over and over again. Claudia Jaqueline Sandoval, 43, from El Progreso, Honduras, was walking toward Tapachula with her 6-year-old daughter. Another son and a daughter are already in the United States. "I have been HIV positive for 16 years," said Sandoval, but her reason for going north was not just medical treatment. "It has been two years since I heard from my son" in the United States, and money is scarce, she said. https://www.yahoo.com/news/migrants-break-border-gate-force-way-mexico-182832541.html Feel bad for legal immigrants from these areas. Tons of Irish were turned away at the border for not being fit, physically or mentally, at a time when the country actually had the resources to accomodate more people. The amount of delusion is disturbing.
trump calls the NYT story fake news, that NYT didn't call to confirm... Stephanopoulos challenges shs on whether NYT called to confirm; shs lies by sidestepping the question: Meanwhile, in a series of tweets trump touts sending immigrants to sanctuary cities... trump lies, about everything. And you can be sure he offered pardons to border patrol officials if they broke the law...
They have every legal right to REQUEST asylum hence why they voluntarily give themselves up at checkpoints. Why is that so difficult for people to understand? We can rule no to her when her case is heard but legally, her case must be heard according to our laws. Change the laws if you don't wan't the cases to be heard otherwise the law is being broken. Legal immigrants come from a different pool. Usually the ones who are on a high horse and scream "come the right way like I id" piggybacked off a relative who got in through some form of merit based immigration and would be in the exact same shoes as those asylum seekers if the didn't have a successful family member.
