Excellent deal. $12.8M AAV. Essentially getting 2 free agent years for a little under $40M. If he is a 2 win player those years, well worth it. There’s some risk in any deal over $50M, but it’s minimal.
This is awesome, the deal itself (buying out arb years plus a couple more) is as Jim Crane as it gets. But what makes this a big win for Dana Brown in my book is because the word was Javier (and Tucker) are adamant about hitting FA asap, without extensions, just like how Correa was, but it looks like Dana was able to sell it. Well done man.
