Another 'not really better', but Joe Pesci (circa 1968) covering the Beatles was not something I would ever imagine could possibly exist.

Maybe not better than The Smiths but still really good.

Leonard Cohen is brilliant but Jeff Buckley’s version is simply amazing. There’s something haunting but also beautiful about it that makes it, in my opinion, the best version of this song. Brandi Carlisle’s version is a close second.

While in Dallas I heard a Tears for Fears cover band called Mad World. I hadn’t heard Tears for Fears in a long time and was listening to some today. The singer for Mad World might be a better singer than the actual Tears for Fears singer

A good friend of mine was the bass player for Mad World from their inception several years until about 3 months ago. (they used to be called "Cheers For Fears") They were fun to watch, but man I've never care for Clays vocals at all. On a great night, his voice is great. On an average night, his voice struggles mightily. Although I haven't seen them in about 6 months and I did see Clay sing for another band called the eMpTy V's last month. He actually impressed me and it was the first time I thought he did a really good job. So I'm glad to hear he's sounding better with Mad World as well.
