Yes. Hell man, even Trent Reznor probably prefers Cash's version. LOL. I think Cash's video and life story are what really make that song hit so hard. It's still one of the most powerful music videos I've ever seen. I remember the first time I watched it, I seriously started tearing up. The most painful part about that song is that his wife died a few months after he recorded it and then he died a few months after that. The whole video is like a modern-day Ozymandias tale... or at least that's how I interpreted it.

Big band, yodeling and more stuttering than Ken from a Fish called Wanda. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CDLDl0_pt_k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I love both the original Tim Buckley Song To The Siren and Mortal Coil's version as well. Very different, both great. Same for Sweet Jane, love both the original VU and Cowboy Junkies. Also, Crimson and Clover. Love both Tommy James & The Shondells original as well as Joan Jett's rock version. Which reminds me, I also love I Think We're Alone Now and boy did that 80's chick screw that one up big time!!!
BIG BOYS - HOLLYWOOD SWINGING (KOOL & THE GANG) <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/R530o8t1Mwo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> THE BYRDS - YOU AINT GOING NOWHERE (DYLAN) <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/s2JnDKvuNzw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> one of my least favorite cover songs is that wallflowers version of bowie's heroes. they did nothing to make it their own. all they did was play it just like the original, rather than putting their own spin on it. also, my band at the time had worked up our own cover of heroes right at the same time the wallflowers version came out so we never played it live.
Frank Sinatra - New York, New York (Liza Minelli) Aretha Franklin - I Say a Little Prayer (Dionne Warwick/Burt Bacharach) Good Night, Irene - Rick James, Jimi Hendrix (Lebelly Ledbetter) Creedence Clearwater - Heard it through Grapevine (Marvin Gaye) Satisfaction - Devo (Rolling Stones) Guns N Roses - Knockin' on Heavens Door (Bob Dylan), Live and Let Die (Wings) Better Originals than More Popular Covers Lou Johnson - Always Something There to Remind Me (Naked Eyes) Fancy - Bobby Gentry (Reba McEntire)
John Mayer- Free Fallin 5 Finger Death Punch- Bad Company Shinedown- Simple Man Pearl Jam- Last Kiss Matisyahu- Message In a Bottle Jack Johnson- Bad Fish/Boss DJ John Mayer- Bold as Love
There are very few covers that I prefer to the original but: Nothing compares to u, by Sinead O'Connor, (prince), is better.

No, I prefer NIN's version as well. I think the JC version was more sentimental and meaningful when it came out with the death of June Carter.
just heard this one... lyrics are a little different, but it's very good <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lN55XgWJyTc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
