Ok, well that seals it for me. I'm going to go get my new iMac on Wednesday or Thursday. I was going to order a refurbished one from Apple directly, but screw that. I'll just go to CompUSA or Fry's and get some extra memory in the deal. It ain't worth the $200 I'd save.
Rumor has it the new G5 iMacs are right around the corner. Wait a few more weeks and you may either save a few hundred on a g4 imac or you might want to get the redesigned g5 imac. I'd say there is a 50/50 chance they get released in the next 30 days. I just bought a 15" powerbook for work/home use and I'm waiting for the new iMac's to drop the cash on a new home computer that gets occasional work usage on nights and weekends.
Actually, everyone is saying they will not release the G5 iMac at the WWDC which starts tomorrow. Rumor is that it will not be released until either this fall or very early next year. There IS a good chance that there will be a price drop on the iMac, however, starting tomorrow or Tuesday, which is why I'm not going to the store until Wednesday.
WTF? Has that place completely fallen apart since I left? He had you reset the cuda and then told you take it in for service? Seriously, WTF?! Please tell me the guy put you on hold at least once to "check his resources" (call help desk)... The TS steps that they other guys suggested in here are right on the money and it sucks that you got a lemon. You should also keep in mind that if it breaks again, (doubtful) you've got a pretty good case to receive a new machine. Make sure you keep your case number.
