    If we beat the Mavs in Dallas on Tuesday, we punch our ticket to the quarterfinals of the NBA's 1st-ever In-Season Tournament. Sure, it's not the REAL playoffs, but after the last three seasons we've had, I'll be thrilled for our young guys to get their feet a little damp in some bastardized kind of playoff competition.

    Additionally, NBA.com lists Alperen Sengun in the top 10 when discussing the tournament's MVP race.

    Sneer all you want, but this feels pretty amazing, considering how we've all suffered recently. And just imagine how Pistons fans are feeling these days.

    Hotels are esssspennnnsive that week in Vegas but F it I'm going if we make it. Tickets were also pretty atrocious when I looked a week or two ago.

    Folks can keep saying cup doesnt matter or not a playoff game. However when I watch those games it is clear that players are in on it, trying HARD. Game is slower, officiating is harder, audience is up there. It definitely feels like it matters a ton, seems like a playoff game. Great entertainment, love it.

    I agree. I wasnt fond of the idea going into season. I hate that the NBA is always looking to f with tradition. Players complaining about 82 games and such. But it does seem like teams are playing harder early in the season and that I love.

    Every time we beat Denver so far we get a 3 or 4 day break from action- the schedule this season is frustrating, especially not knowing if we advance in the IST or play regular season games on Dec 4th and 6th not knowing the opponent in advance

    I like the passion you have for this tournament. More should be at stake than some lap dancing money. every tournament should count as 2 wins in the standings or something like that.

    My passion is for seeing the Rockets as a competitive team after their 3-year nap.

    This mini-playoff in the middle of the year might end up being a big thing for the NBA, but the first year it's nothing but a mild diversion. But it's a diversion that my team has the potential to make a little interesting. And apart from KPJ's arrest, it's been a while since we made some national headlines.

    It is not lap dancing money for every guy in the roster, even star players are talking about winning for them which adds to the stakes.

    This has “for the team” vibes. Exactly what NBA basketball needs in my opinion.
