With the trade of Aaron Brooks and Shane Battier, my guess is that Coach Adelman is not a happy camper. Brooks was his guy and he had a chance to follow him at Oregon, help draft him in Houston, and turn over the reigns of his team to him as he progressed.
As for Shane, I don't know of many coaches who would like to lose a player like Shane and all those little things he does while on the court.

That said, I think Coach A will retire this summer as this is also the last year of his contract. He came here to make a championship run with the Yao and Tracy, not bring along the young pups.

Hypothetically who would you like to see coaching up our young guys next year?

Pretty sure Adelman will no longer be coach of the Rockets after this season. He came aboard to win now and Rockets have chosen their direction and it isn't to win now.

If things stay as exciting as they have been as far as player development, he's gone. Heck, I only watched the games this week out of nostalgic loyalty to individual players. I'm glad we have flexibility. Otherwise we're just meandering in no mans land. No coach or GM survives there for long.

Elston Turner wasn't great when he stood in for Rick Adelman, but I think he would be the best option because he would probably retain Adelman's staff and system.

If, RA doesn't come back, and that's a big IF, I say we go younger, find a new guy who hasn't been really given a chance... Shane Battier anyone?...

All joking aside, I say we go in that direction.

No one the OP listed, that's for certain.

Will probably be a relatively new guy, for better or for worse.

How many games did Turner stand in for Adelman? Was it enough to be able to judge how good he could be as a Head Coach?

I feel for him, but his tone almost (maybe accidentally, maybe not) suggests he faults the organization, like it has misled him or something. Things would be a lot different if our personnel stayed healthy. Things sometimes just happen beyond anyone's control.

What about giving finally giving Mario Elie a chance?

As much as I love Jeff Van Gundy I don't think him and Morey are a good match. I don't know who is out there but in case Adelman leaves I see us going after a young non old school coach, kind of like the Morey of coaching, I still don't want Adelman to leave though.

So Morey has to go also, S:eek:o JVG can return. At least we will lose 75-70, instead 125-118
