    I think Morey will be more eager than usual to get a trade done before the deadline. If the Rockets make a trade using Cook and rookie(s) as outgoing salary,the Rockets may be able to keep expiring/non guaranteed contracts not in the deal. The Rockets would also have MLE at disposal to get a backup PG.

    The MLE is only for teams over the cap. The Rockets are way under the cap. No MLE for them this year and (barring a trade for a high-salaried player who takes away the Rockets' cap room next summer) not next year, either.

    The Rockets COULD use the "Room" Exception, which is a much smaller version of the MLE. But that is only $2.575 million.

    Wrote on phone. I meant to say that if Rockets make a trade for a star before deadline, they could keep guys not in deal next season as well as have MLE at their disposal next season. I think guys like Delfino and Aldrich would be lost if they signed a max free agent in the offseason.
