... what metric do you use? Eye test, stats? If you go statistically, he is not in the top 10. https://stats.nba.com/players/defense/?sort=DEF_WS&dir=-1&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Regular Season&PlayerPosition=C (adjust for minimum 50 games played) The fact he plays in Houston's system obviously hurts him, so I don't take them too seriously Eye test, too many flaws and a small body. Great athlete in transition, but you need more to dominate.
I wouldn't trade Capela for Butler....but I do think that Capela will be traded before his contract is up... I've loved Capela since he was a rookie, but what KD said is somewhat true... Blocks, Rebounds and Lobs/layups (not to take away from his decent lateral movement and touch around the rim) can be replaced. We won 50+ games with him barley playing 24 mpg in 2017. Not saying I want to trade him, but I wouldn't bet on him being the starting center for the 20-21 season...Morey will probably begin gauging interest starting the '19-20 season Capela doesn't take another leap next season. Zhou better start doubling down on those protein shakes...lol
I'd do it for Butler...no one else (realistically) out there really interests me though. C's are not so important in todays NBA. Were fine with PJ at C against Warriors small ball lineup when Draymond plays C. Capela was taken out of the game so often during the WCF.
Yeah, the trade value for a guy of Capelas talent, age and contract is high. But its a moot point because this team NEEDS Capela. You just can’t trade your Capela and have him too.
I'd trade Clint for Butler or Leonard if they were open to re-signing. Clint just isn't as impactful against the Warriors as he is against other teams. Butler and Leonard would bring us very close to the Warriors in talent even if Boogie was healthy.
There's been a correction so that value goes down to $16M. Depending on how you feel about the significance of his contributions to the team, it maybe difficult. If he develops into a player that is close to all star level, it would be more challenging to trade that $16M for equal value. No to Jimmy.
