    This opens up doors for people to lie in court to protect murderers because they don't have to face consequences.

    but really, this doesnt open any doors anywhere.

    People have and will always lie. It's not like some guy is thinking about confessing to a murder, then read that Roger CLemens got a mistrial and all of a sudden change his mind about his confession.
