what was he supposed to do? He fired the coach. He gave the GM the leeway to move players and nothing of significance coalesced. Each player on the bench got an opportunity to play sans the rookies. As an owner, what was he supposed to do? As per that comment, it was in season after a disappointing start and firing the owner. It was meant to light a fire. If we were making shots and brewer dmo jsmith were all contributing the same like last year even if we have sub par defense then we could have done as good as last year. Problem is not defense because we werent that good last year anyway and we were still 2nd seed and reached wcf

Well if we want to really start parsing his words: he does not mention "roster." Actually he only mentions two things that hurt, but he says there are three. "I don't think we were as good as people thought" does not sound like "roster" to me. I don't think speech can be taken as seriously as written statements.
