Looking at getting a new car, down a choice between a Toyota Carolla Conquest Hatch and Honda Civic Vti-L, the functionality is reasonably similar, as is fuel consumption, the Honda is probably going to cost us a fraction more, as we currently have a Toyota and as a result they are giving us a much better trade in value....... we like the both, we know what we get with a Toyota, the Honda seems like a slightly nicer car (not sure exactly how to describe that), think only functional difference is bluetooth is in the toyota and not the honda I will also looking at the Hyundai i30 hatch with the diesel engine which has great fuel consumption and some improvement co2 emmissions, it has won a stack of awards and love the way the turbo diesel engine zipped around... however the mrs just can't get past it is a hyundai and their past reputation..... how the hell do you choose between them.... is it just cost or what we like??? help Smeg
Those cars don't exist in the US (at least not under those names). The powerplants/engines and specs on cars can vary from region to region. I don't know of a Hyundai diesel sold here (I do know the i30 is either the successor to or another name for the Elantra sold in the US).
If your really worried about fuel consumption and gas mileage, then I would suggest: <a href="http://photobucket.com/images/crappy%20car" target="_blank"><img src="http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr88/joslynann/Me/crappycar.jpg" border="0" alt="Crappy Car Pictures, Images and Photos"/></a>
so you have researched and came up with just a couple of cars to choose from.. try test driving them.. see which one you enjoy driving the most
You can't really go wrong with a Honda or a Toyota in terms of reliability. Hyundai has also been a lot better for that as well. They used to offer a 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty. If it is the cheaper of the 3 and still have the best warranty, I would actually get the Hyundai if you don't care about the name.
Smeggy, You fit in those cars? Aren't you like 6'4" -6'5". I think both are good cars. I tend to hear honda civic owners loving their cars more than corolla owners, so I would probably go with the Honda. On the other the hand,my sister has a Toyota Wish which I think is the same as the Avensis in Australia. Its a real nice car because it has lots of room and still drives pretty well.
Too tough to answer on foreign models simply because most of the answers you get here are based upon US models. Models overseas often use different motors and are sometimes built to differing standards. I'm guessing Honda and Toyota are both reilable overseas? I don't know. Here, it's a coin-toss. Toyotas here are considered underpowered and bland. Hondas maybe a step above in that regard. Honda interiors and ergonomics here are generally considered superior. Toyota reliability is among the best usually. Again... here. If I were to choose, I'd choose Honda because they look better, are just about as reliable, etc., but it depends on what I'm looking for. Performance? Reliability? Looks? And again, all this will vary overseas since the engines and models are different.
Just based on generalizations alone, I would say either is going to be a great choice, though I would certainly give the nod to the Honda. I am driving an 05 Camry SE right now (that's the sporty one, mind you) and it is so damn boring I want to cry. I've driven base civics that offer more excitement than my super Camry. Of course, if you care more about comfort than handling you should give the Toyota extra consideration. Toyota knows how to make an awesome air conditioner.
Completely agree. Crapollas suck ass, man. Talk about cheap looking plast-icky interiors. Late model Toyotas have crappy interiors compared to late model Hondas. That being said, if you are serious about a superior diesel engine I would check out the Jetta TDI, which will get you near hybrid like mileage and tons of torque.
thanks all nah rockbox, i'm about 6'2", fit in both fine have done plenty of research and test driven both.... if prices were equal would go with the honda, however toyota have offered a very attractive offer, will give Honda a chance to get down the price, if not will go with the toyota, it probably is a tad blander but not really a car head, its easy car to drive, simple cheap to run and maintain...
neither get a audi avant s4. but after reading i would say you are on the right track. tell the honda dealer what you told us and see if he can make a better offer. pit them against each other like thunderdome. two salesman enter, one salesperson leaves...
