I don't think UT got in because of money - but that's because all the schools involved are big name programs. If it was UCF or West Virginia with the exact results Texas had, FSU is probably in and there's some random justification for keeping UCF out. 5 deserving teams and 4 spots. Whichever one is left out is going to have an argument for it. FSU's QB injury helped the committee a ton, because if FSU was still rolling, I don't know that the committee would really have left the SEC champ out over Texas.
DeSantis loves spending money on things that don't help Floridians. What's even the justification here? Isn't it accepted that it's an arbitrary decision by a bunch of random people?
De Santis went to HLS and think it’s worthwhile to sue the CFB over a result he doesn’t like… its such a bizarre world. I mean, I get it might be a publicity thing but still. What possible cause of action/legal theory could FSU bring, how does FSU have any standing and/or how was FSU damaged?
Maybe I’m being nitpicky but your initial comment made it seem like money was the only factor… 3-10) The possibility of Texas playing for the title in Houston. Never forget this is all about $$, not football.
Texas got in because we beat Alabama and they weren't going to leave the SEC champion who just beat a team that hasn't lost in almost 3 years out. And they couldn't justify leaving the team that beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa out. Would anyone be surprised if it's a rematch of that game for the national championship. If Texas can figure their redzone offense out, they could steamroll any team.
Word on the streets is that this is moving towards the formation of a super league with the haves and have nots. Why wouldn't UNC and Co just fuse with the B12 and form a basketball super league then? This system is so whack.
Because basketball is an inconsequential drop in the bucket financially for all but a few schools. Basketball seems like a big deal until you see all these conference realignments, basketball isn't even a momentary consideration. If it was UNC would have been gobbled up by the SEC already.
I think you're going to see the basketball superleague because of this, actually. Schools like Gonzaga carry way more import to the new Big XII than they have previously. If you're left out of the football super figure skating competition, focus on what you do best.
Without their starting QB, FSU was a shell of their former self. They didn't belong in the final four.
Thanks God this nonsense ends this year. Games should be decided on the field, not by dorks and their hypotheticals.
Probably no sympathy, but Oklahoma would have been bumped as #12 in favor of #23 Liberty if the new format was used this year.
42-3 at halftime. FSU fans should disappear quietly into the night. No more yapping about "disrespect". I wish Jordan Travis hadn't been injured, but without him, they didn't deserve to be in the playoff. If the playoff were 12 teams this year, they would have played OU in the 1st round before (if they won) getting clocked by Alabama in the 2nd round.
FSU's argument that they should have been included in the final four is being obliterated by Georgia in the Orange Bowl. It is not pretty.
A solid call from you on Dec. 6. Here on Dec. 30, we might say FSU didn't belong in anything but maybe the Pop Tart Bowl. Haha. Poor kids.
