Not franchising a player could be beneficial if forfeiting the pick would be required. Otherwise there's no point. You should have to forfeit your 1st or where you drafted the guy at.
My move's been pushed back a week because of closing delays, so if y'all want to start Saturday instead of Sunday that's cool with me. Either way. I have 2 keepers I'm torn between. I'm leaning to Megatron over MJD, with the holdout situation.
Sorry for the confusion, but it basically allows everyone to designate one keeper that will be added to the team prior to the draft starting - will not be slotted in the draft. You can pick from the following players on your team: http://www.fftwelve.com/printrosters.php?page=printrosters&leaguefolder=football/clutchcity/ The draft will leave to start on the 19th.............
Did we all agree on this iteration of the rules? I'm not trying to whine here, just opening up an honest discussion. IMO this version is the only version that isn't actually fair, especially since the draft order was random. Someone could wind up with the consensus best player via franchise tag AND have the #1 pick in the draft without penalty? Seems a little ridiculous... I'll play either way but I feel like it's worth a debate. Keep in mind I was in favor of a keeper - just not like this... Also, if I had Foster, Megatron, Rice, etc... I'd still have the same sentiment. I'm not trying to be the whiner because I don't have a top tier guy to carry. In fact CJ2K has more upside than a lot of other teams' franchise hopefuls and probably wouldn't be on the board where I currently pick.
I'm with Ziggy. If you keep a player you should lose at least a 1st round draft pick. It's not beneficial to the league especially since we all never agreed on that rule of not losing a pick. Seriously not trying to be a pain, but it needs to be fair.
Alien, I'd be willing to trade you a 12th round pick for Megatron. Then you could keep MJD and upgrade your draft at no cost. Pretty good deal since you only gain something. And if that falls through Fade, you I should talk about a 14th rounder for Drew Brees.
I agree with this but I think we should lose the draft position that the player yo are keeping was drafted in last year. It really makes no sense for someone to keep lets say Aaron Rodgers and then draft Arian Foster. You are basically getting the number one and two pick with no penalty. It doesn't seem fair at all Can we vote on this?
I guess I'm confused as to what we actually voted on. I thought we were implementing the franchise player as long as your forfeited the draft pick that corresponded to the round you in which you selected said player in the previous year's draft, as long as he was also on your final roster. For instance... I took Jimmy Graham in the 8th round last year. He was on my final roster. Therefore, I choose to franchise Jimmy Graham and surrender my 8th round draft pick in this year's draft.
This is how it should be. And how does a new person joining the league get to do keepers? Rocketball, just **** it and do the keepers next season.
Not sure if that's directed towards me but I joined the fantasy baseball keeper league this year as a new guy and Longhorns old roster wasn't thrown in the pool just cause I joined. I really don't care about the system used for keepers. I honestly think it'll make it interesting to see how teams turn out without forfeiting picks. But I could care less of the format just glad to be part of a FF keeper league.
I didn't mean it to be a jab at you, FLASH21. Since this is being implemented for the 1st time, I didn't know how that was going to work.
At this point, I'm ok with scrapping the whole keeper idea until next year until we can come up with a more clearly defined system. I'd love to keep Jimmy Graham but I'd rather avoid another controversy.
