Big prototypical 2 guard with good pedigree who ended up where he was supposed to be....best thing that could have happened to QG...Kelvin Sampson. Taught him how to work and become the best version of himself. (Eat em Up) Elite shooting ability combined with pretty decent handles. 39 inch vertical...Q's a big time rebounder..and solid finisher. Obviously, best player on the court in all his games at the combine. This guy's been on a mission for awhile, and has recouped much of his former value.

Grimes has the talent and work ethic to be a player in the association for a decade. The question is if a late first is a stretch given his ceiling is relatively low.

I could see him fitting in nicely on a contender needing guard depth.

I can easily see Grimes being drafted by the Rockets. Fertitta is the chair of the board of regents at Cougar High.

We need a higher upside with our picks that early in this draft

I do agree with this. We have many holes in our roster.

Grimes left Kansas for the draft, but withdrew his name after a poor showing at the combine. Transferred to UH, and is now living up to that potential.

I didn't say he would be my choice, mind you. But it would help UH recruiting if the word got out the Rockets would elevate you a bit. I probably prefer Butler for a guard at 23/24, if Butler's medicals can clear up.

Too early. Late 2nd round. He can feed off a superstar maybe, but we don't have that. In Houston he has to get his own shot and he's shown no ability to do that. And I'm not a fan of his handles when he left. That may have gotten better because he could improve it. I don't know. There is a little nugget there to look at though.

he would definitely be a great pickup with one of those late picks. He's easily more talented than most of the guys in that area

This thread got me thinking about Jarreau. Looks like he could go undrafted. Would like to see him be a summer league player for the Rockets and eventually end up on the Vipers. I think he could end up being a serviceable bench player during the rebuilding years. Maybe the Rockets could have a UH bench of Brooks, Jarraeu and Grimes.
