First time I saw them was at the [Vatican? International Ballroom? Unicorn? I get all those old Houston places mixed up] in 91, opening for Anthrax and Public Enemy.

Top-5 concert experience of my life.

    I love John McCrea's voice.

Sidebar: Speaking of unique voices, shoutout to the Butthole Surfers too.

It was probably IBall. I was there too.

Not sure if you remember, but they were about to play a song they never do live. People were excited and some jackhole decided to throw a beer on Les’s bass. So, they didn’t play it.

5 seconds of noise for Redd Foxx who had just died during the PE show. Great concert.

This one isn't even close for me. I've seen Primus over 30 times since the very beginning. I've seen them in Red Rocks, I've seen them in SF/Oakland and too many times to count in TX. I'm a huge fan. No other band has the balls to do a concept album based on a childrens book, remake the Charlie and the Chocolate factory sound track or cover a RUSH album in its entirety. During the last Tribute to Kings tour Les busted out the Double guitar Bass combo and played the electric guitar for the first time I can remember. He tossed 2 guitar picks into the audience. I was lucky enough to get one of the 2. I consider this my unicorn of primus mementos. Can't wait to see them again in April in SA at the Majestic.

    primus easily...

i was heavily into primus in high school when sailing the seas of cheese came out. i never got into the other bands.

they were touring like crazy at that time and i saw them whenever they came to houston. to this day, one of the best shows i ever went to was fishbone and primus at the unicorn in 1991. i also saw them open up for public enemy and anthrax at unicorn a couple months before (or after?) that show.

I remember this. I think it may have been residents song they were about to cover. If I remember correctly after that they played a short version of is it luck and then left the stage.... or I could be confusing this show with the Primus Fish Bone show where some Ahole jumped up on stage and stole Les' hat. He stopped the show and turned on the lights but never got his hat back. I think he hated Houston for while after those incidents.

    Fishbone was criminally underrated.

I was at that show too. I'm sure a few of us literally bumped into each other back then.

I’m more than sure I’ve told this story, but saw Fishbone open for the Beastie Boys off of the license to Ill tour. They had to play around 3 hours if I remember correctly, because the Beasties were so wasted, and they were sobering them up.

People started booing Fishbone because the show had to be so long but they were incredible. Definitely underrated.

Primus. Their sound is a style all it's own. I've never seen them live but I think they still tour, right?

Cake is similar to Weezer to me. Nothing crazy but they know how to make a damn good pop song.
