Lots of people experience lag when streaming. Especially on mobile devices or low income families. Quality of video is only going up. Your advice to these people is 'pay more' even though they may not have to if the ISP could prioritize the data coming through. You want me to explain why having un-elected officials have full control over a marketplace is a bad way to run that marketplace? Sure. Private companies will be less inclined to invest in a space they will have little say over. I've seen varying reports about BB investment over the two year span net neutrality has existed . Some say its gone down and some say up. Either way, you won;t find a single economist who thinks this is an effective way to run a marketplace. You also have proof with Title 2 and Ma Bell. That's what we can look forward to under Title 2...... BTW, If you think throttling is always bad then go talk to Netflix
lol I know right, except of course for Portugal http://www.businessinsider.com/net-...tm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer-bi
that's not throttling. its zero rating. Its legal under net neutrality. Companies do it here such as AT&T with DTV NOW or TMobile with Pokemon Go. Nobody cared and marketplace is fine. EDIT: Commodore corected me.
zero rating is a violation of net neutrality, and Wheeler threatened to ban it, but he never got the chance zero rating is also wildly popular
It's amusing how we're supposed to believe companies like AT&T and Verizon are looking out for consumers.
Except it was found to be violating net neutrality. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...ATAP&usg=AOvVaw3hRIQn9DVJCPVMfAOwKwIq&cf=1
you don't have to believe anything. Antitrust laws are real. they do exist. As we speak the DoJ is suing the AT&T merger because it violates antitrust laws (AT&T will win).
Case by Case Demands a level of trust that I am not comfortable with . . . . it opens up alot of room for corruption and discrimination Rocket River
I can understand this view, but Its how the internet was regulated from early Clinton years to 2015. Worked great.
how much are paying for internet right now? why is your ISP not charging you double? why are internet speeds getting faster every year? Why are ISPs trying to meet customer demand for more speed? Why is AT&T trying to lay Fiber all over the place? same with other companies? Are the ISPs trying to get you faster speed at 'the expense of consumer experience'?
It's not even the same industry. Who was cutting cable to stream and people were still trading stocks with phones.
Youtube was created in 2005 and Netflix started streaming in 2007. Netflix and Youtube thrived under the old rules. Its not like some event came along that demanding the internet be regulated differently. All the boogieman proposed are hypothetical.
your claim is that ISPs would try to screw over the customer experience for profit without net neutrality. This never happened before. ISPs have tried to meet customer's demands for speed so why would that all of a sudden change?
