Breaking 1-06-21: MAGA terrorist attack on Capitol

Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony was salacious and attention grabbing but overall it isn't that important. What is important was the testimony of Trump's own Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and members of the DOJ and even White House Counsel. Those show that Trump knew that he had lost the election and had exhausted his legal arguments. That he was looking for extra legal ways to overturn the election. That far from being concerned about the violence happening on the Capitol he welcomed it. That he refused to help for hours as members of Congress and even his own VP begged him to do so.

The attempt to undermine Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony is more attempt to distract, obfuscate and muddy the issue.

 

That is, and always has been the MAGA approach to deflecting from the real issue. Trump was a lying coup instigating power monger, who just couldn't accept defeat.

 

The funny thing is that the little story about trying to take the steering wheel had been a useful vignette to demonstrate that Trump was serious about his promise in his speech that he would be with them at their protest in front of the Capitol -- and that the only reason he wasn't there was that he was essentially kidnapped by his own security detail. But, no, now in insisting that Hutchinson was lying about it (and who knows what else!) they kick the legs out from under that little fantasy. We must revert back to the story that Trump told his J6 rioters he would be with them and then immediately fled to the safety of the White House to watch them assault cops on TV without getting his own hands dirty.

In my experience, the judge's next question to any potential impairment is "Do you think that would impair your ability to impartially hear this case?" The potential juror says no and next thing he knows, he's getting paid $6.50 a day to watch people talk and to eat cafeteria food.

Navarro was found guilty by a jury last year of defying a subpoena for documents and testimony from the now-defunct House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
After refusing to comply with the congressional request, the House of Representatives held him in contempt and referred the matter to the U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., for prosecution.

Yeah that’s a boldface lie. According to testimony given Trump only floated the idea as a way of supplying himself “protection” as he went to capital himself to try and help the insurrection happen by forcing Pence and then the house to overturn the results of a free and fair election.

It’s funny how you guys think you have a gotcha for the other side of the matter, and then you dig into the facts just a little bit and it’s clear that your gotcha actually makes Trump look even worse.

There is just no way you Trump loyalists are going to lie and propagate your way out of January 6th. Trump attempted a coup. You supported a coup, and you and your cult are trying everything you can to make everyone forget it was a coup.

Also to refresh people’s memories. On Jan 6th itself Kevin McCarthy, Mike Pence and many others were calling on Trump to act quickly and he delayed for hours. If Trump was serious about stopping what happened at the Capitol he could’ve taken action much sooner. His chief of staff and even his daughter were trying to get him to do so but the timeline clearly shows he not only didn’t but was telling Kevin McCarthy the rioters cared more
About the election than McCarthy did.

 

This is again yet an ongoing effort to gaslight what happened on Jan. 6th. To pick at the margins, to selectively edit, or to outright lie.

Trump invited his supporters to DC in Jan. 6th to pressure the Congress on stopping and/or change the electoral count. He told his supporters it was “going to be wild”

At his rally he told his supporters to march on the Capitol. While he did say “peacefully” when violence broke out he expressed no concern about it and even during the height of it tweeted an inflammatory post about Mike Pence while rioters were chanting “Hang Mike Pence!”

It was only after more than 3 hours that he gave a half hearted statement telling them to leave. In that time rioters were beating and macing LEO, looting and desecrating the Capitol. Republican members of Congress even those who supported Trump were fleeing or hiding in fear of the rioters.

Jan. 6 was exactly what it looked like. It was an attempt by a losing president to rally his supporters to intimidate Congress to allow him to stay in power.

 

History will look at it for exactly what it is. A bunch of uneducated idiots being tricked by billionaires. Even being coaxed into doing something as dumb as this was surprising. All for what is a lie.
