Time to end my involvement in this thread.

First off, refman and students at aggieland, I apologize, you have a good all around school, comparable to UT. I just really hate it when anyone calls my school that I am damn proud to attend, TU, because it shows a lack of respect, imho.

But, I understand it's all part of the rivalry.

If you want to know some interesting stuff: most of my relatives are aggies, and my little sister wants to become one because of your vet school.

The former is one reason why I am a longhorn, besides UT's journalism program and outstanding athletics-most important of all as my passion is sports. I am in the broadcast journalism sequence studying to be a sportscaster.

My relatives sure have fun shopping for me during Christmas, let me say that ;).

As far as my sister goes, I often jokingly bring home shirts from our Co-op bookstore picking on the aggies, nothing personal, but I have to rag her for it ;).

Anyways, this never should've escalated to this point, but this is what happens when you get two groups of highly proud and stubborn people in a war of words about something that hits close to home, and for any aggies I offended I truly apologize the best that I can.

In all seriousness...this is one of the classiest posts I have ever seen. I totally understand how you feel about the rivalry. You have reason to be proud of your school. It would have been very easy for you to "stick to your guns" and continue to escalate. Instead...you exhibited a TON of class. It is very much appreciated.

i wouldnt really be bashing a school if they had normal classy fans. and i guess, there are a few classy Texas fans on the board. but, most of the Texas fans i come across are arrogant and ignorant, and think their football program is so high and mighty to everyone else. and ive run across this attitude over and over, so much..that when something bad happens to their football program, i feel the need to really give it to the fans hard. UT is a nice school i guess, and so is Texas A&M. i really deep down couldnt care less about college football games overall. but when you see people believing all the hype and believing they are so high and mighty in regards to their football program..and bragging about it..and rubbing it in the other guys face...its really completely neccessary to kick them when theyre down...
anyway, sorry to the classy fans. i just started this thread for everyone ive come across who isnt...

Guys we must admit we are down. We're 9-1. We should be 10-0. The AP has us tied with OU at #4, the Coaches have us at # 3, and until tomorrow we're # 4 in the BCS. We won't win the Big 12. We'll have to settle for an at-large BCS berth.

Sucks to be a Texas fan right now. Go ahead and kick us some more :(

This is why I want a playoff system. 16 teams. 12 conference champions and 4 at large bids. Under this system Texas wouldn't win the conference, but they'd probably get an at large bid.

The important thing is that if Texas got an at large bid...they'd get a chance to prove their mettle on the field, rather than in a computer somewhere in Seattle.

I said last week in this forum that that the aggy may win this game, and I knew at that time we would be listening to aggy crap all week , but the writing was on the wall OU has no offense.

You are a funny guy who will be remarkably quiet on Nov 29th. I will be at the game so I will not be able to post anything to rub it in at that time, but I will say it now.

You guys lost to V Tech (at home) who is is not looking so hot.
You guys lost to Tech (at home) who is good team, but should not be a loss at home..
You guys lost to Neb (at home) who sucks.
    Went to OSU and lost.

You beat OU and now you are better than Texas? You guys are funny. Good luck versus Mizzou, trust me you will need it if you want to show up in Austin with only 4 losses, b/c you WILL leave there with more than 4.

    Congrats on the win!

In 1998, a Michigan State team that would finish 6-6 went on the road and came back from a 24-9 third-quarter deficit to upset No. 1 Ohio State, 28-24.

Ohio State won its other 11 games, all by at least 10 points.

These things happen. Great teams get upset by mediocre ones every year.

You know what this games means for A&M? It means they won this past weekend. And that if they play another team whose defense looks like it's never seen play-action or a pump fake before, they can be dangerous.

Since I don't see any teams like that on their remaining schedule-- well, to be fair, the Humanitarian Bowl opponent is still TBA-- I wouldn't annoint Reggie or RC just yet.

I don't want to say A&M is better than Texas this year, b/c quite frankly they aren't, but one thing I would love to see is Reggie tearing up the Texas D, while watching Simms choke. Hmmm, I wonder who the Texas fans would want in the game then?

Only thing is, Tressel is the coach now. But, I still think Illinois will give OSU all they want next week. Somehow, UM pulls it out.

gr8-1, I didn't mean that as evidence Ohio State would lose. I meant it as a comparison to A&M's win.

#1 teams aren't infallible. That 1998 OSU team is the 2nd best college team I've ever seen (95 Nebraska's the best), and they managed to lose to a mediocre MSU team.

Congrats to A&M on the win. The single win. Which is all it is, at this point. I don't blame Aggies for their optimism, but I think some of them are reading too much into this one victory.

i don't know... the win may have single-handedly saved slocum's job. good, bad or indifferent toward that revelation, that's nonetheless a big deal. and when you're talking about the entire landscape of a&m football changing or not changing because of one game, it's more than a single win.

plus, for a school that's routinely finished a distant second to texas in recruiting wars of late, yesterday was about as awesome a recruiting tool as a stable of fast cars and easy women. when the future of the program helps knock off a #1 team that had dismantled your biggest recruiting rival just a few short weeks ago, all in front of a raucous home crowd, it's more than just a single win. and, looking down the road, if a&m can beat texas, yesterday may be looked upon as the day power within the state shifted back toward college station.

Better than the90's Miami and FSU teams? Do you mean from a talent standpoint. Also, OU 2000, while not necessarily the most talented team ever, always found a way to win.

I can't wait for the game. If Texas wins, then so be it. But if A&M pulls off the upset I'll tell you all where the line starts to get your plate full of crow.

I have seen more people on this board be absolute about the game that it is sickening. I have been watching this rivalry for a long time now and the one thing that I have been shown time and time again is that anything can happen in this game.

I think if ATM wins in Austin, they close the gap a bit. But, the balance of power remains in UT for at least a few years. Mack seems infallible among potential recruits. See 63-14 and 14-3 as examples.
