So I'm watching the replay (public holiday here and all) just to see the "bad calls", I'm going to slap in italics if I'm iffy. this is gonna take me awhile, haha, so here goes, underline for the bad, only blatantly egregious no calls count (don't want to 2nd guess "enough contact") Quarter 1 11:33 - Dwight fouls Lopez 9:36 - Beverley hip checks Batum's head, 2 fts 9:21 - Lopez blocks/swipes Dwight, 2 fts 8:49 - Dwight blocks Lillard, 2 fts 8:30 Batum swipes Harden's arm when shooting, no call, but a foul is called on Aldridge for over the back of Asik (non shooting). 7:58 Blocking foul on Asik 7:32 Block on Jones, 2 fts for Aldridge, refs tell Mchale that Jones has two hands on (a foul), replays show just the forearm (legal) 7:13 Harden called for reaching in 5:15 Reach in called on Aldridge, Harden 2 fts 2:43 Leonard hits Harden across the face, 2 fts 2:21 Blocking foul on Leonard, 2 fts 2:09 Dmo fouls Robinson, 2 fts 58.9 Williams grabs Lin on the drive, 2 fts 34.6 Offensive foul on Harden, should have been a block That's quarter 1 done, so far one call benefiting Houston, 4 calls benefiting Portland, net result of calls has been -2 fts Houston, +2 fts Portland and Harden, Dwight and Aldridge all have +1 fouls (for 2 each), and Jones +1 (for 1) from it. Now for Quarter 2
The fact they had 1 field goal in a period of 7 minutes and still kept the lead up is telling how the refs kept them in the game..
really it's that one ref who should be reprimanded, sent to the d-league, or fired. seriously, who is he? really bad at officiating! he caused the crew to get a police escort back out after halftime
Nice thread. I hope someone posts it on BlazersEdge. I doubt they can comeback with a list that's even close. It was painful to watch. Every time the Rockets closed in on the lead the officials gave two free throws to the Blazers.
Thanks OP. Looking forward to seeing the 2nd and 3rd quarter. As for the 4th, I'll just say this. The Blazers made only one FG after the 7:29 mark of the 4th and shot MORE FT's (and made more) than the Rockets did in that stretch.
Quarter 2 11:42 Robinson holding Asik's arm 11:04 Shot clock is on before shot is taken, Portland gets offensive rebound and scores 3 8:40 Williams? fouls Dwight, 2 fts 8:03 Incorrect offensive foul on Hamilton when he makes shot and Technical on Mchale for nothing (-3 pts to Houston) 7:20 Offensive fend off by McCollum on Lin 6:27 Lillard hacks Lin, 2 fts 5:17 Bev undercut, 2 fts 4:47 Williams has Bev around the neck, and picks up a technical as well, 3 fts 3:16 Jones has both hands on Aldridge 1:41 Asik fouls Aldridge, 2 fts 1:10 Matthews fouled by Beverley, 2 fts 58.8 Lillard blocks Beverley, 2 and 1 1.7s Johnson swipes Lin's arm, Hamilton picks up technical for protest. Of note, so far the refs have Houston -8, and ignoring Lin's no call are 8/26 wrong, for 31%, The Blazers have received one of those. If you include Lin's (which imo is the only blatantly egregious one), it's -11 and 9/27. There has been 4 i'm not sure (2 each way) but I'm counting them as correct, because I don't like my viewing angles.
You know someone's already lost an argument when they bring up the Rockets shot more FTs. Any time Dwight touches the ball close (or rebounds it and gathers himself) it's an automatic foul. It's a terrible argument. Teams will always hack players like Shaq and Dwight.
This is true. No calls lead to turnovers, help teams in foul trouble, etc. I even notice when the official take 45 seconds to give Jeremy the ball after he makes his first free throw just to ice him.
The one thing this game didn't have was no calls.... except that one we all remember Now for Quarter 3
Keep going man. This deserves its own thread. Didn't watch the game. Just watched the highlights. Great win but it pissed a lot of people here off due to officiating. I'm curious to read on what happened.
Thought you needed verified evident to over turn a call undervideo review we lost on that with the howard layup, and the bev steal
