Black High School Students Visiting Texas A&M University Harassed, Told to Go Home: Texas Sen. Royce

This seems like an isolated or highly anecdotal incident; A&M is a huge, diverse campus and my own experiences with white alumna growing up, socially and at work just don't jibe with this.

 

Assuming this happened it is unfortunate. It is important to remember that there are still some people in this world who will treat you differently simply because your ancestors came from a different place than theirs.

 

I am reading that these racists were white females. White females happen to be the biggest benefactor of "affirmative action". I see this more as they (white women) defending their ground for the coveted AA enrollment opportunities. That being said, Rick Perry, the only Texas A&M alumn to be governor, should probably make the apology on behalf of the university - and invite the kids to a weekend stay at his hunting ranch.

That may be largest number of conditional admits, but they're also the largest demographic and in the second or third highest performing group academically. They produce a lot more executives and professors than any other group fighting for AA and a smaller portion of their group would lose out on a college education without it.

I did like what their Student President had to say.

But already didn't like A&M and don't like them even more now.

 

In a report about this on npr, Senator West said that one of the first arriving campus police officers on the scene claimed that the college students were "expressing their first amendment rights"

There's no place for this on college campuses, anecdotal and isolated or not. I hope there will be consequences for the individuals involved.

What kind of sociopath approaches a group of underprivileged, high achieving black high school students, and initiates a conversation about their Confederate Flag regalia?

First incident started because someone in the group had a Longhorn bag.

Sounds like the confederate earrings incident was separate?

Oh please. The melodrama. A very small group (compared to the whole student body) does something terrible. So it accounts for the whole university? GTFO. And I don't even like A&M.

I have a Puerto Rican friend who just started school at Texas A&M. I think I'll ask her about this.
