i believe all of that to be true, yet was she such a bad candidate that Trump was better? Also you are the guy who continually is knocking other candidates for not being progressives, which kind of proved the posters point.
Beto has perfected "failing upward": There’s a reason his biography doesn’t feature much in the campaign. For O’Rourke, the phenomenon on display in that race—failure without negative effects, and with perhaps even some kind of personal boost—is a feature of his life and career. That biography is marked as much by meandering, missteps and moments of melancholic searching as by résumé-boosting victories and honors. A graduate of an eastern prep school and an Ivy League rower and English major, the only son of a gregarious attorney and glad-handing pol and the proprietor of an upscale furniture store, the beneficiary of his family’s expansive social, business and political contacts, O’Rourke has ambled past a pair of arrests, designed websites for El Paso’s who’s who, launched short-lived publishing projects, self-term-limited his largely unremarkable tenure on Capitol Hill, shunned the advice of pollsters and consultants and penned overwrought, solipsistic Medium missives, enjoying the latitude afforded by the cushion of an upper-middle-class upbringing that is only amplified by his marriage to the daughter of one of the region’s richest men. “With a charmed life like his, you can never really lose,” an ad commissioned by the conservative Club for Growth sneered last month. “That’s why Beto’s running for president—because he can.” “A life of privilege,” David McIntosh, the president of the Club for Growth, told me. It’s not just Republicans who think this. “He’s a rich, straight, white dude who, you know, married into what should politely be called ‘**** you money,’” Sonia Van Meter, an Austin-based Democratic consultant and self-described “raging feminist,” told me. “His biggest success is by definition a failure,” she added. “He’s absolutely failed up.” https://www.politico.com/magazine/s...-president-campaign-profile-failing-up-226866
The slander a person because they were born into an upper class family isn't going to work in this election if it ever has. The fact that he has wealth and opportunities and others don't but still chooses a life of public service is admirable. Good for him.
Exactly. Going after Trump because he was born into wealth and didn't have to work hasn't hurt him. He still won.
"Beto O'Rourke plans 'reintroduction' as 2020 buzz fizzles": In a tacit recognition that this approach isn’t working, O’Rourke is planning to try again, taking a hands-on role in staging a “reintroduction” ahead of next month’s premier Democratic presidential debate. As he finalizes his plans, O’Rourke has entered an intentional “quiet period” to build out campaign infrastructure, according to an adviser who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the campaign’s strategy. That will end soon. O’Rourke plans to step up his national media appearances after skipping most of that kind of exposure in recent months. He is scheduled to appear on MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” on Monday night and ABC’s “The View” the next day. He’s also set to offer more concrete policy plans on top issues. So far, he’s issued just one, on climate change. O’Rourke acknowledges he’s struggled to find his presidential campaign footing. https://apnews.com/1e32cf3855734117b0aa1a1d55867b6e
The irony is truly outrageous, FB. Quoting Club for Growth, a conservative group, is hardly fair, Os. I like the quote from the chick in Austin, though. Beto’s problem isn’t that he’s rich, although @glynch certainly hates him for it. It’s his lack of a coherent platform, something he should have addressed before deciding to run. He isn’t like a Joe Biden, for example, who has a record so long that not only do people know what he stands for, he has to deal with positions from years ago that he’s evolved from. Beto has nothing like that. The best thing he did in Texas was prove that a good, hardworking Democratic candidate can be competitive in the state, and even win in a statewide race. Beto came surprising close. He might have won had he been a better candidate than he was. Cruz is that hated across the state. That he’s going to have his soulless self in the Senate for another 5 years is sickening, and terrible for Texas, regardless of one’s political position, in my opinion.
I could be off base, just opinion but he seemed way more moderate on stage than the impression his blue team website or high volume followers would give. I mean he almost won a red state because he's NOT a red candidate. How silly is that?
What is this poll saying? What are the different lines representing? It's hard to know if this poll is solid or not.
As stupid as the stunt is, taking the time and attention to attacking the stunt is even less worthwhile.
