A team of 11 Brazilian magicians. This team would beat the crap out of any of the final four teams in this world cup. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/zZxvYy5-ekI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Zico, Socrates, Falcao, Junior, Eder... anyone of them would be the best player in the world if they played today.
Rep'd. I am biased, but many soccer observers have noted that Brasil 1982 was one of the best teams never to win a WC. That team broke my heart when it lost to Italy 3-2, when all it needed was tie to advance (were the rules different back then?). To this day, I expect nothing when the Selecao plays.
LOL a team that doesn't win can never be the best team ever, since they were obviously beaten by atleast one team. If we go that route we can also say that the 1974-1978 Dutch team is the best ever (which is obviously isn't). I do not know why I even post in this thread, ovious biased poster.
Maybe what he meant was the team that played the prettiest Futball. Winning does not equal to Joga Bonito, you can win playing an ugly style of soccer, just being efficient with goals. Well darn beautiful indeed.
1974-1978 Dutch team? LOL, Cruyff might the only one who could start on this 1982 Brazilian team. It's not to diss your Dutch team though. I think they were better than the German team in 1974 and should have won the World Cup. But they were just not the same level as the 1982 Brazilian team.
I figured he didn't. Because I agree with you the prettiest futball does not equate to winning. Ok thanks for sharing your delusions. I will remember not to listen to you anymore.
For me Colombia played the best this World Cup but they were not going to win anything. They folded because of refs and physical play.
How do you define epic choking? By being the best team in the history of soccer that could not win a trophy.
Would Paolo Rossi or any other of that year's Italia squad have a starting spot on the Brazil team of 1982?
That loss to Italy was a total shocker to A LOT of people, especially because that Brazilian side didn't even make to the finals. Fatal mistakes were made including the infamous Toninho Cerezzo's errant pass that was intercepted by Rossi resulting in one of his goals. Cerezzo was a great player in his own right, whose career was never the same after that game, as well as the other players. The late Socrates, who went through residency at the same he was playing for Corinthians, became a drunk later in life, who of couse, always denied he had a drinking problem. Soccer is one sport where people are so passionate. Where else you see fans and players weep so openly? Not me, 1982 was the last year that being a soccer fan disappointed me to no end. If Brasil goes out today to Germany I will be mildly disappointed, but you better believe my full attention will be returning to the Rockets by tomorrow.
