i was there! it was totally crazy and is still probably in my top 10 even though as ive gotten older i think the b-boys are total cheese-dicks.

we saw mike d before the show and my friend asked "are you michael diamond?" and we were hoping he would say "naw, my names clarence"-but instead he just looked at us all weird.

been to so many, but off the top of my head

1)sonic youth/pavement/painteens-unicorn-1992. this is probably the single best show ive ever seen.

2)beck-austin music hall-1996-odelay tour where beck became the master showman that he is. when introducing "deborah" he says "tonite, austin is....MAKE OUT CITYYYY!!!" awesome.

3)that radiohead show a couple weeks ago-damn, it was even better than a the one in 2001.

4)spiritualized-la zona rosa-2001-13 piece band doing druged out floydian gospel epics. mind-blowing.

5)caroliner rainbow-spring 2003-they decorate the stage in neon colored heiroglyphics paintings and wear giant neon alien insect costumes and play a rather spaztic/free jazz type of agro-metal. probably the most bizzare thing i have ever witnessed.

6)polyphonic spree-scottish rite theatre. south by southwest 2002. they played in the freemasons "church" in austin and it was amazing. they had the whole crowd on their feet singing with them and jumping up and down.

    7)fishbone/primus-unicorn-fall 1991-just a good time/good music/energy.

8)the frogs-south by southwest 2000-these guys both rocked me and scared the hell out of me. i was blown away and left speechless.

9)curve-the vatican-summer 1992-rocking shoegazers. great sound and hot singer mixed w/ hallucinogenic drugs. ahh, to be 17 again.

10)mogwai-couple years ago and a couple weeks ago-blisteringly loud yet ambiently beautiful.

    bands i wish i saw...
the pixies-i was in high school and they would only come to houston on school nights. they are reuniting and touring next year, but it wont be the same.

my bloody valentine-my only chance to see them was w/ dinosaur jr in 1991 and it sold out on me.

janes addiction-the REAL janes, not the "i need money for heroin so lets get back together and tour w/ flea" version. i remember them playing at the unicorn in 1991, but again it was a school nite and i couldnt go.
