    U hate to see it:

On Monday, Netanyahu was toasting victory, now he's toast

An elated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu roared “this is the biggest victory of my life!”—but that was Monday.

By Thursday, his voice hoarse, a tired Netanyahu growled, “We won’t let them steal the election!” In the words of Netanyahu’s centrist rival and Israel’s probable next prime minister, Benny Gantz, “Someone here celebrated too early.”

Then came a remarkable cascade of bad news for Netanyahu, Israel’s longest serving prime minister, and its first to be indicted while in office.

Avigdor Lieberman, his onetime defense minister and now a fearsome nemesis, announced his support for a law proposed by Gantz, a former army chief of staff, which would bar an indicted legislator from being appointed to form the government.

Such a law would eliminate any route to immediate political survival for Netanyahu, whose trial in three separate cases of bribery, fraud and breach of trust is scheduled to open in Jerusalem District Court on March 17.

In an almost unseen instance of Israeli multi-partisanship that Israeli media call “the anti-Bibi coalition,” this law enjoys the support of 62 members of the 120-member Knesset, from the majority-Arab Joint List through the left-wing Labor Party, and now, unto Lieberman, a hardline secular right-winger.

Further, Lieberman, who holds seven potentially king-making Knesset seats, announced that he would recommend Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin choose Gantz to form the next government.

I bet some are glad there's a wacko president to rely on to reduce their strongman crowd from stepping up.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were data that his career extended under Obama.

Not a comment or critique on O, just an observation on people like him and what they stand for to maintain power

Trying political corruption at the top is a hard thing after the fact.

His base won't allow it despite the overwhelming evidence

The minority party who used to be/hopes to again be the ruling party here in the US strategically recognizing un-elected heads of state as heads of state should be noted.

If this was just Don Jr. that would be one thing... for Haley to be recognizing and trying to legitimize Netanyahu is interesting, and should be noted as dangerous. If McConnell, and McCarthy also follow suit then this would seem to be even more orchestrated.

Basically this is a signal that the GOP is an authoritarian party, and now plays to projection of strength over promoting Democracy. I think this is a glimpse of how the Republican Party will be promoting itself globally moving forward in an effort to promote their vision of Authoritarianism to garnish the support of Xi, Putin, MBS, Erdogan, Bibi, and the other autocrats out there that they want to partner with.

All politicians do. There are quite a few that they rinse and repeat throughout history.

Finding a common enemy is an easy one to redirect peoples angst.
Getting in conflict/war and citing security to presevrve youre 'stable hand' is another one.

And be it Clinton, mayor Pugh, Trump,Netanyahu, Modi....the witch hunt, rigged, is another one to rile up their base. Sad how religious politics has become to where they won't even critisize their 'god' and point fingers elsewhere

Maybe they are repaying the favor. Netanyahu and israel put their thumb against obama and for trump this time around pretty shamelessly, so now stay out of foreign elections be damnned aparently by people who run on 'law and order' unless it applies to them. Nikki seems sensible and bright, shes embarassed herself with trump both with her response to jan 6 and then losing her legs afterwards
