I was just thinking about basketball to football equivalents, inspired by Steph Curry's younger brother Patrick Mahomes. D'Antoni would be basketball's Andy Reid-- very successful, offensive genius, but hasn't won the big one. Popovich would be basketball's Belichick with Tim Duncan his Brady.
Except Mike's teams never lost in the playoffs thanks to a decision made by him, Andy Reid on the other hand...
That's a fair comparison. I used to call D'antoni the Mike Leach of basketball, back when I didn't think his style of play would ever get him past the Spurs. His teams seemed to outperform their talent level. He manufactured good basketball. Still felt like a gimmick at the time though. Times & gameplay changed (for both Leach & D'antoni). He's graduated to Reid. Puts real talent in the best position to succeed. Hasn't won anything, but he's not the reason for it.
If you are talking about those Suns teams, they had plenty of talent and were very close to a title. They had alot of bad breaks tbh. They would have beaten the Spurs had it not been for Robert Horry, and they would have beaten Dallas had Amare not been injured. Could he have worked on his defense? Yea, sure. But he's also had a lot of bad breaks.
Not to mention MDA caught another bad break losing CP3 to injury in last year's WCF....yet another Championship that coulda been...guaranteed....
Get this eggball crap out of here. I don't know who Andy Reid is but looking at his pictures he fits the profile of an eggball player to a tee. Unathletic, morbidly obese, and looks like he has high cholesterol. Andy "cheeseburger" Reid is what JJ Fatt will look like in 10 years.
Oh course..its obvious hopkins. He isnt fast, he almost always pushes off, n i think leads the league in drawing p.i.'s. He is crafty
Disappointed that no one has mentioned the only correct answer. They share the same jersey number and from the looks of it the same weight. The O.G. Hefty Lefty
