i'm predicting that ou's willy warren will be the big 12 player of the year. willy warren= steve francis(in his prime) with better bball iq, but little less hops any takers?
Damion James from UT. He was one of the best players in the Big 12 last season and now he's gonna lead UT to a Nat'l Championship.
james is ready but idk how much of a threat all over the court...mainly his jump shot.... I think bradley is gonna have to compete with ward for playing time
bradley got to tie his shoe laces in the picture before he think he gon do something with willy warren out of ou.
Bradley was a Top 5 player coming out of h.s; some sites had him ranked #1 in the country. He's gonna start and get way more minutes than Ward. He's my pick for P.O.Y.
willy warren was the second best player on the best team last year so it might be a tall order for damion james or bradley... but idk i'm just ready for the season to get going to see where the chips might fall
Willie Warren is among the front runners for sure. Damion James as well. I think Cole Aldrich at Kansas has a real shot as well.
cole aldrich is a very agressive and dominant big man/ seven footer. I think he has a shot but it depends on guard play at kansas because most of his points were setup by dribble penetration/assists. in the north carolina game willie warren was the only person who didn't give up, blake griffin was shut down by double teams. ut's mason can't create for himself off the dribble like willie warren can and mason doesn't have the same mid-range game like warren.
actually I meant damon james and not mason, but that highlights an issue at texas after dj augustine left. augustine was able to create off the dribble and when he left texas they never had a true point guard emerge. a.j. abrams tried but he wasn't a natural point guard. mason and james never emerged as a dribble penetrator/point guard
i went to a bball camp run by jai lucas and his dad (john) a few years ago the kids a stud and probably will be one of the best pg's in the big 12
1. Willie Warren 2. Sherron Collins 3. Avery Bradley 4. Cole Aldrich 5. Damion James Texas is so deep they don't need POY-level performances by any one player.
Then I guess it's good that Damion James isn't the point guard at Texas. He's a forward and always has been. Avery Bradley and J'Covan Brown will probably handle the ball the most in the early season, with Mason and Varez Ward getting time there, too. Jai Lucas will be the starting PG when he's eligible to play.
willie warren outplayed unc's point guard ty lawson in the national championship so i don't think anyone from texas can get with warren... warren handles the ball on a string
