So I hear Mike Matheny is now the manager of the Cardinals.

Those two went back-and-forth as the premier defensive catchers in the NL for a decade (except when we kept trading Brad to the Tiggers).

How long before we see Ausmus filling out the lineup card?

Brad Ausmus is busy surfing in San Diego. I don't think he is leaving California.

I think this is probably right...though, he might like the idea of the challenge after a while.

Weird. I guess all that talk of how great a skipper he'd be was mediot-speak and nothing from any interest of his. Too bad.

[rquoter]"I'm not going to say that I don't [have that ambition], but I can't say 100 percent that I do," Ausmus said. "I might go home and decide that is where I want to be all the time. I wasn't even married until after I got to the big leagues, and I haven't been home with my family for more than three or four months at a time. They may decide they don't like me."[/rquoter]

I'd rather have him as a pitching coach.

I'm sure he's interested in alot more things than coaching though being an ivy league grad and all like surfing in San Diego.

would love to have him...just don't see him leaving CA. I figure he'll manage one of those teams or wait until his kids grow up

I've always had the feeling it's just a matter of time before Brad takes the helm somewhere.....and does a magnificent job.

And if I was a betting man I would make Houston the favorite.

Let HUN run the show and bring in Bad Brad as our next manager.

I don't remember where, but I think Crane said the first ex astro to get a job as the manager would be Biggio(I might be wrong though)
