Guys, there's no point in getting all bent out of shape over this one. This was just one of the crazy things that happens when you play at Coor's Field. I wouldn't start stressing unless the Astros somehow manage to lose tomorrow with Oswalt going. Plus, the Astros probably should have had a few more runs anyway. Missed a couple of opportunities early when guys doubled and got left there.
The chronicle said that Lidge wasn't available yesterday because of biceps tendinitis. I think it was in the Astros Notes section of the paper... "Given a four-run lead to protect in the eighth inning with closer Brad Lidge unavailable while nursing tenderness in his right biceps, the Astros' bullpen gave up five runs to lose 6-5 to the Rockies." Sorry, typed from memory before I went and found the article.... Still, Lidge hasn't pitched in a few days and his elbow is tender. That makes me concerned considering we have a winnable 4-game series with the Reds coming up after this afternoon's rubber game.
Astros are 5-5 in stealing today! WOW. Biggio has BROKEN the record! Biggio got the baseball, its in the dugout for him! WHOOP! Pass the torch baby! Ironic, the team that hit him most, just nailed him to break the record!
The team looked pretty resilient out there... but I guess its easy to do that when you've got the current best pitcher in baseball pitching for you. Also, Ensberg is about to have his best regular season numbers ever in HR and RBI's... and it isn't even the all-star break.
I didn't realize that Denver had that many Astros fans. Everytime the Stros scored it was a loud roar in the stands.
I really can't stand Phil Garner's bullpen selection. In the loss, why in god's name wasn't Lidge inserted? If it's not an injury, Phil Garner has further ensconced himself in the realm of idiot-dom. And the announcers didn't mention an injury. Nor does ESPN's Astros page. Hope it's just an oversight, and our manager isn't a moron. That was so digusting. I could see what was going to happen. So could my friends with me. Lidge was needed. There was a fire - he's the only reliever who can really put them out. Oh no - we get Russ Springer with his good control but mediocre stuff. I don't give a damn if it's the 8th or the 9th - Lidge is needed when (a) the game is down to the wire and (b) there's a tight situation. Bottom-line: if Lidge was played, we sweep that series.
