i had no idea pinero was 1-7. that probably explains a lot of the mariners' woes. i'm saying sweep. the astros generally take care of business against poor teams.
I'm going with a 2-1 series win. At least I hope so. I have a pitcher riding on this with a Mariners fan.
WWW i will be at the game tonight. look for a drunk rowdy fan with a an orange astro shirt and an old school rainbow astro hat circa 86.
So Duckworth isn't starting game 1? I don't know who Koko is so lets just hope we can out slug the Mariners. Clemens seems like a sure thing for game 2. But it appears Freddy Garcia is off the booz and pitching pretty good, while i'm hesitant to say the same about Wade. Didn't the Mariners sweep us last time in interleague play?
Why didn't the Astros skip KoKo since we had an off day last Thursday? Every other team tries skipping the #5 starters when they can. Jimy's an idiot.
I've pondered the same thing. My only guess is that by the end of the season Roy O gets worn down. Remeber all the attempts Jimmy gave him to get his 20th win a couple years ago? I think it was like 3 shots and he couldn't get the W against sub par teams. I think he's scared of that happening in the playoffs.
We've got a 41 year old, a guy with groin problems and now this other injury (rib cage?) and two struggling starters (I guess Redding isn't struggling that much anymore) who would probably benefit from having an extra day off.
Ugh... I can't watch KoKo. Walks an awful hitter in Randy Winn... and now is throwing wild pitches. But, he struck out E-chi-row... the only compelling reason for playing the mariners. It also doesn't help my mindset that every comment by Bill Brown and Jim Deshaies about the Mariners lineup is, "Boy... this guy's really been struggling.... this guy is currently in an 0=23 slump... this guy hasn't gotten it out of the infield since april....etc" Well, they look damn good against Koko... ugh!
He deserves to be called Brandon from now on... no more nick-names for him. Apparently (some more disturbing stats): the Mariners are the worst offensive team in the league, they have the biggest losing disparity in 1st inning runs, and the last time they had a lead this early was a month ago.
Can we dispense with the myth that Ausmus is still a good defensive catcher? His arm and aim have declined considerably.
