I’m guessing the Yankees are somewhat fed-up of signing inconsistent/injury-prone pitchers. Or they’re just going to sign him next year for even more money when he pitches well enough in the lefty pitchers haven that is pac bell park (or whatever it’s called now).

As long as he's not in the American League... I am fine with this

We will be glad we don't have Snell on the books for $17 mil in 2026 after he bolts in 2025. He wanted to stay on the West Coast so be it.

If the Astros had offered $64M, the SF would have gone to $66M.

The only reason SF got him for $62M is because SF was bidding against themselves after The Astros and Yankees refused to go that high

    Bravo Jim Crane

We will be counting our lucky stars when he is 8-11 with a 4.35 ERA averaging just over 5 innings per start heading into September

No one in baseball other than the Giants would go over 30 million a year. Astros tried to make trades and avoid the third level of the tax but ultimately that was too much for both the Astros and Yankees.

Giants got Chapman and Snell at less than most expected - but it’s for one season really.

There are real and valid reasons Snell didn’t get more money or years. He doesn’t pitch deep into games, he walks too many batters and some of his advanced stats last year were not great… he also is known as difficult.

I would have been happy if he joined the Astros - but he is risky with his inconsistency and lack of innings.

The Astros were lucky to get Hader - and they wanted him more than Snell.

At the end of the day - if Verlander and Valdez struggle, the Astros aren’t winning a WS even with Snell.

Guys like Javier and Brown have the talent to step up and be very good…. France is a gamer, Garcia is coming back as a stud in the pen or talented starter.

The line up has at most one real hole… Crane has done his part financially - now go out and win.

Dodgers…. Braves…. Rangers… Phillies… Rays all think they will be in the WS.

Someone will be disappointed- everyone but one team will be and I trust the Astros team if they stay healthy.

We are not starting too well on the health front, unfortunately.

It's not how you start in a 162g season.

True, Boras works with the player. If Snell wanted to be in Houston, he would have gone to Houston.

I’m in if Montgomery will do a contract similar to snells.
I love the idea of a short term one year signing.
It’s kind of like a rental trade without giving up any prospects.
they need to go all in this year in case it’s the last dance.

    $90M/3yrs, no opt outs
$70M/3yrs plus ip and award incentives, opt out after each year
    $60M/2yrs with opt out
