When did this team find its offense? Beltran now has reached 35-35 HR-SB. Berkman with a HR. Base hits from Raul Chavez, and Carlos is looking like we'll be able to get 7 innings out of him.
If Beltran doesn't jump back, that pitch goes behind his knees. Now Berkman Hit!! Man, screw the Cubs.
WTF is the Cubs problem? They've been beaning us all series long. And last series as well. Oswalt only beaned a guy once, but it seems like for that one bean, our guys have received 10 hit bats men in place. Ridiculous.
These idiots don't know how to pitch inside... They're not doing this intentionally... they just have no freakin clue how to pitch. Idiots.
The upside to all this, is this looks like a team on a mission. How nice would it have been if this team had this kind of fire earlier on in the season.
well... if they up this score more and more... I say with 2 outs in the next inning (assuming nobody's on base)... that Cubs batter better be tasting dirt. Chances are both sides have been warned, and you'll see an ejection (we can have the new guy... Wheeler... pitch the ninth)... but you have to protect your hitters and let other teams know that they can't continue to pitch recklessly and not have to pay for it.
The way our middle relievers pitch, we may not be able to hit them even if we tried. And of note, the Cardinals are still within reach.
One thing is clear the Astros will make baseball worth watching in September and that’s all you can really ask for out of your team. Whether or not they really have a shot remains to be seen but it will be fun nonetheless...
Anyone else watch the Berkman play in slow-mo? I was watching it and I ran it thru TIVO in super slow mo. It very much looks like the ball hits the bat first then hits him. From the side you can see the ball trail go over his head and hit the bat. I really think it should have been a foul.
That is what Dusty was arguing, and why all the fans were booing. If that's the case, Berkman is much more talented than I thought he was... and should definitely consider a career in hollywood after his playing days are done. The way he immediately went to the ground clutching his head makes me think that the "eye" is being fooled by the camera angle on the replay. Regardless... the pitch was at his head... if it actually did miss it, he's damn lucky, but its still a reckless pitch. Note: Barrett is coming up in the bottom half of the inning... should the Astros perhaps "kill two birds w/ one stone?" Edit: Maybe Kent was trying to hit Barrett with that DP throw that was nowhere near Bagwell.... in fact on replay, it looked pretty intentional!
I've seen stranger things. When he was with the Astros, Todd Jones once tried to hit Dennis Martinez (Expos) with a pickoff throw when Martinez was leading off from 1st base. It was so blatant, that Jones was thrown out of the game immediately.
Bill Brown just said the Astros win this one 10-3. Uhh Bill, last time I checked they play 9 in the Bigs and that was only the end of the 8th. He was laughing about it when they came back on.
