    SWEEP

Roger should give the pen a large majority of the day off tonight. That way, Munro and Carlos can be on short leashes.

    GO ASTROS!

I have a hunch that 2-1 is realistic, but the 'stros are in a situation where a sweep is virtually mandatory with the Cards series looming...

    A short, short time ago...
    I can still remember
How the astros used to make me smile.
And I knew if they had a chance
They would make these people dance
And, maybe, they’d be happy for a while.

    But september made me shiver
    With every run not delivered.
    Bad news on the doorstep;
I couldn’t take one more step.

    I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about this nine man side,
But something touched me deep inside
    The day the astros died.

    So bye-bye, astros goodbye.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
    But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day the stros die.
"this'll be the day the stros die."

    .....

"the team that I admire the most,
thought they could celebrate and toast,
but they dropped two of three on the coast,
    The day, the Astros died

    And we were singin...

    Bye, bye, Astros goodbye......

Honestly, the Cards are resting their stars, and are having injury problems with guys like Carpenter, Rolen, and Kline.

They're a shadow of their NL Central champion selves right now, and there's no reason why we can't have another favorable series against them... in fact, I'm more scared of the Brewers in Milwaukee at this point.

Yeah, me too. The BrewCrew are doing what they do every year, this time of the season. That is try to be the punishers to teams fighting for a spot for the postseason.

WWL Its hard to sweep a team back to back. We just swept them in H-Town so I think the Brewers will have enough heart to win atleast 1 game at home.

    He was the man
    He was the myth
But he didn't know all the ways he'd win games... (no)
    The 'stros took a chance
    Called up this man...
But I bet you didn't think your season would come back from the grave, no

You don't have to say, what he did,
I already know, I found out from ESPN
Now there's a slim chance, for this team to be, on October 3
    To be in the postseason.

I thought that they would be
    In the playoffs all along
They're two and a half back
    Behind Chicago, Was I wrong?
'Stros, I refuse, you must have me confused
    With some other fan
Their season was burned, but now it's his turn...
    To pitch...

    Backe the Winner
    Backe the Killer-er
    Cy Backe, thriller
    He replaced Miller-er, yeah, yeah

    ...
(in 2 weeks, when the Cubbie fans are crying...we can add the end of the song)

    Cry me a river, oh
    (Backe, Backe)
    Cry me a river, oh
    (Backe, Backe)
    Cry me a river, oh
    (Backe, Backe)
    Cry me a river, oh
    (Backe, Backe)

    WWW.

We have to sweep the Brew Crew. As long as we keep on winning we'll be within striking distance from the Cubs, who will have a hard time against the Mets. They could easily lose two out of three in NY.

    CHC @ NYM pitching matchups:

    Fri 9/24: Glendon Rusch (6-2, 3.69) vs. Kris Benson (12-12, 4.44)
    Sat. 9/25: Mark Prior (6-4, 4.59) vs. Aaron Heilman (1-2, 4.86)
    Sun. 9/26: Kerry Wood (8-7, 3.56) vs. Al Leiter (9-8, 3.19)

Benson and Leiter have good chances of beating Rusch and an injured Wood. Prior has been extremely inconsistent this year so he could lose as well.

You are seeing with Astro colored glasses, my friend. The NY Mets have rolled over the last couple of months.

    WWL

I wanted to say WLL because it's the end of the season when it matters the most and that's usually not good for us. If we don't sweep them then I think it's over. In our last 9(?) games if we go anything less than 8-1 then I think we have no possible chance. Thinking about that, you'd think we would need to sweep this series to have a chance at it because at least the Rockies have good hitting and the Cardinals have played well throughout the year. It's likely we'll lose at least 1 game to one of those teams. If it's not WWW then I think we're done with.
