Pitching Matchups: 6-11 -- Tim Redding (3-4, 5.3) vs. Doug Davis (4-5, 3.5) 7:05 on KNWS 6-12 -- Roy Oswalt (4-4, 3.42) vs. Matt Wise (0-0, 3.07) 6:05 on KNWS 6-13 -- Pete Munro (0-0, 3.18) vs. Ben Sheets (5-3, 2.41) 1:05 on FSSW
True, Munro has been right ever since "Too Close For Comfort" was cancelled, Ted Knight was always riding his a$$.
WWL Ben Sheets owns us and it aint going to change anytime soon. Hopefully Roy can start getting back on track.
What's the over under on gold gloves for Everett? One of these days we'll get a lefty for the bullpen. A 3-R HR to a leadoff hitter in a lefty-lefty matchup just kills you.
This team's really scuffling right now. They need to find a way to consistently score runs, and they need to do it fast.
Man, we are really struggling. Our offense now has had 7 straight games where we could not score more than 4 runs. What the hell happened to the offense. We had more than enough earlier on this season, all the power hitters were hot. Now instead of them taking turns and getting cold, just about all of our hitters are cold at the same time.
Jimy is beginning to piss me off. It was one thing to always bunt Everett early in the season, when our pitching staff was awesome. But right now, small ball is the LAST thing we need, because the opponents(the pitiful Mariners lineup notwithstanding) are absolutely killing our non-Clemens starters.
Oh how I wish some one else can come up and snatch the 5th spot from Timothy. Can we use him as trade bait? I am almost certain that it will not get better for him here in Houston as an Astro. He will not justify being the 5th starter anymore if we decide to open our eyes. I am certain and completely confident that Munro will beat Sheets. My reason for this is that I know for sure that Pete will give us 5-6 innings of 1 or 2 runs, while we will, for the first time in a long time, rough up Sheets a little. As for Oswalt, he will be fine today.
Redding didn't pitch that bad of a game last night. 7 hits, 3 earned runs, two of which scored on the HR given up by Gallo. 3 walks, 2 k's That's not a disastrous line. In fact, it's a better line that Doug Davis had. Davis, however, was helped by our fabulous offense hitting into three 5-4-3 double plays.
It is the same classic deception his stat line continue to portray - a fair outing. Save for that outstanding game he pitched against the Cards, I cannot think of one game where it felt comfortable watching him throw ball 1 repeatedly.
Uh, this was a pitcing staff coming off back-to-back shutouts. The Astros had the 3-2 lead late in the game. If Gallo gets Podsednik out, you probably see Miceli-Lidge-Dotel, and it's a different type of ball game.
While the starting pitching has been a problem, the biggest problem IMO is our offense. Its not even feast or famine anymore, its just famine. I am actually glad Hildalgo got injured so no Lane can be our everyday starter.
