this sounds like a well intended plan that's destined to end up like elysium forgot the link - http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-37650274
In a fantasy world, we colonize the entire galaxy and peace reigns. In reality, our bodies become brittle and full of cancer when left outside of the ozone for too long. I'd still go though. A still more glorious dawn awaits.
Aren't there people currently trying to build massive platforms in international waters that they will then turn into various sovereign states? I believe Peter Theil was an early investor.
Well, the mythological Valhalla is on Asgard. So, who wants to start a crowdfunding project with me to open the first bar on Asgardia, to resemble Valhalla at Rice.
btw: couldn't we achieve the same thing easier and sooner by making Asgardia a cheap cargo ship with sexy brochures marketed to muslim extremists and another brochure for our basket of deplorables, complete with "extreme vetting" exams that only they can pass to make them feel special, on their way to exile in orbit.
Interesting . .. . I often wonder what the Laws will be like once you hit space and long term living is viable. if Bill gates invests his 40+ Billion into it legally buys all the materials and supplies. some how gets it into space . . . . .. Why is it not his own personal Kingdomship? bought and paid for . . .. Anyone who wants to come to it . .. has to submit to his reign? Just curiousity more than anything Rocket River
Gates can spend 40 billion to build a space station. It only takes a couple million dollars to build a missile to shoot it down. You need some type of muscle. Early mobs used to call this 'insurance'. In 2017, the Clintons call this "pay-to-play".
We've been down this road before: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand. Hard to be a sovereign nation when no one takes you seriously.
