What is the list of cities that are Republican run? Or what is the % of cities in the US that are not Democratic run? I’m confused here.

    Check your county for Covid-19
    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/county-map.html?

Grimes County near College Station, Victoria and Hays County between New Braunfels and Austin have the highest rate per 100,000 in Texas. I think of all the college students who will be flooding the area from College Station, San Marcus to UT Austin, and wonder how this will affect the spread.

I just read in the Houston Chronicle today that in a 12 county area surrounding Corpus Christi there were only 4 ICU beds available. In a 3 county area surrounding Laredo there were only 6 ICU beds available.

Corpus area has a high rate of DWI accidents, and even non DWI accidents. Lots of curvy roads, lots of drunk driving, and not a good combination for limited ICU availability.

I think school buses are going to be a huge problem in containing the virus. Kids already spend over an hour each way on buses. Social distancing means many more buses will have to be used. Either way, I can't imagine they won't be petri dishes on wheels. Driver's may opt out of low paying jobs, simply because it's not worth the risk.

That's how Trumpets can claim to have the lowest death rates among developed countries - by doing what banana republics do and then call out media as FAKE.

DON'T TEST AND YOU WON'T HAVE A PANDEMIC ON YOUR HANDS - CAN'T BE EASIER THAN THAT

    can I wake up already...

From the TJ/bigtuxx tik tok accounts: "As long as everybody doesn't die from the virus, everybody can get the virus and carry on with life as usual...what's the big deal?"

The news clips include news stories, editorials and opinion columns about health and human services from major state and national media outlets. They do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the agency and may contain inaccuracies.

    Houston Chronicle

Four deaths at the Jacinto Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Holland Avenue are currently pending review to determine if COVID-19 related. Another 57 residents and staff members have tested positive and are being monitored by public health officials. Texas Health and Human Services is also involved in the investigation. The state agency’s online records show the home was last inspected in May 2019. It was cited for nine violations.

Gov. Abbott says local leaders need to be ‘better’ and ‘smarter’ on enforcement of COVID-19 orders
    KXAN-TV - Austin

In an interview, Abbott said he received a letter from several mayors from the largest cities in Texas asking for “additional shutdown measures”. Abbott said he found the local leaders’ request frustrating because there’s been “no action whatsoever to enforce the executive orders that are in place” to slow the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, Abbott said if the current rules are followed, the state won’t need to be shut down.

    KXAS-TV - Dallas/Fort Worth

As COVID-19 infections soar across Dallas and Tarrant counties, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has asked Gov. Greg Abbott to close bowling alleys, gyms and restaurant dining rooms. Gov. Abbott has already re-closed bars and scaled by the allowed capacity for restaurants from 75% to 50%.

Austin Public Health Could Push For More Restrictions As COVID-19 Hospitalizations Surge
    KUT News

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 hospital admissions hit an all-time high of nearly 75, according to numbers out Tuesday evening. Health officials have said any average above 70 would push the area into the highest stage of Austin Public Health’s five-stage guidelines. Stage 5 would recommend a shutdown of nonessential businesses and would put in place restrictions on nonessential travel. The average increased from 64.6 to 74.8.

Austin ‘very close’ to Stage 5 restrictions, but not there yet, Adler says
    Austin American-Statesman

Austin Public Health reported 73 new coronavirus hospital admissions Tuesday and a rolling 7-day average for new admissions of 74.8. Austin public health officials have said Stage 5 precautionary measures, which would approach a full lockdown of the city, would be triggered when the rolling average reaches at least 70. But in a tweet Tuesday evening, Austin Mayor Steve Adler said the city had not yet reached Stage 5.

Texas scrambling to staff hospitals across the state as COVID-19 numbers escalate
    Corpus Christi Caller-Times

As hospitals across Texas report surging numbers of COVID-19 that threaten to overwhelm capacity, DSHS has deployed more than 1,400 medical professionals along with medical supplies in a effort to keep pace with the caseloads. DSHS said Tuesday that more 800 professionals have already been placed at hospitals in the state's hardest-hit areas, including Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley. An additional 600 are on the way.

Austin Convention Center being prepped as field hospital for coronavirus patients
    Austin American-Statesman

As coronavirus cases spike across Central Texas and the rest of the state, local officials said they are preparing the Austin Convention Center as a field hospital for 1,500 coronavirus patients. The site will be ready to be opened on July 20. On Tuesday evening, the three healthcare systems reported having 76% of its combined 2,473 beds — or about 1,880 — full and 85% of its 483 ICU beds — or about 410 — occupied.

COVID-19 test results taking days to return in Austin area
    Austin American-Statesman

Test results for COVID-19 can take more than a week to return as cases of the disease across Central Texas have surged and labs have become flooded with samples. Instead of getting results in one or two days like in mid-April to early May, turnaround times have crept close to wait times seen during the start of the pandemic in March. Delayed results can make it difficult to promote quarantines and contact trace.

"We were waiting too much time" l Delayed test results can delay treatment for some very sick COVID-19 patients, UT doctor says
    KVUE-TV Austin

With more COVID-19 cases in the Austin area, there’s pressure to get test results back quickly, but delays in getting test results back are impacting how soon some doctors can give sick patients potentially-life saving, experimental treatments. Dr. Kristin Mondy, the chief of infectious diseases at Dell Medical School, attributes the delay to the increase in demand. Testing in Travis County has increased 199% in a month’s time from June 5 to July 5.

As Gov. Greg Abbott leads state through COVID-19 pandemic, where is the Texas Legislature?
    Dallas Morning News

Gov. Abbott has been the face of the state’s response. Meanwhile, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have complained about executive overreach, restrictions on mail-in voting or policies that left jobless Texas out in the cold. A few legislators have started pushing for a more central role. Over the weekend state Sen. Charles Perry called for a special session to let the Legislature play a part in the state’s pandemic response.

Trump and some on here keep saying deaths are way down, but in Texas they have never been higher. It can only get worse as our cases skyrocket.

Hospitals need to start turning away any Trump voters. They don't deserve care especially if it jeopardizes the care of others. Trump voters are responsible for this mess and are likely to be the ones defying mask orders and spreading fake news like TJ and Texxx.

It's increasing and bigtexxxx has proven over and over that he's a heartless moron.

Today the US had 61,640 new cases

Today Texas had 10,131 new cases

Today Texas had 119 deaths, a new high. Yesterday Texas had a high 85 deaths over the previous high May 21st of 63 deaths.

@bigtexxx it is time to face the truth.

This is not the time to force schools to open. We don't know what it will be like in 3 weeks. Now is the time for Texans to be able to absentee vote because of the pandemic like almost every other state in this country. Now is the time to do our best to stop the spread.

@bigtexxx Is an idiot who doesn’t believe in science and refuses to acknowledge facts which show Abbott and Trump are incompetent. I’m sure he will say something idiotic like the increased death numbers are just due to increased testing. Or the death figures are lies because those people actually died of something else. Or the Dems are politicizing this. Or the Dems are rooting for the deaths.
