    Arafat near death.

    Not looking good for Yassar

Looks like he is going to check out, I hope the new leadership is less crooked, and more willing to actually work for peace.

If him and Sharon could buy it in one day that would be quite fitting. These crusty old men have sent enough children to the grave.

    Bush: "God bless his soul"

that's what he said when asked for his initial reaction to Arafat's passing...

TOPIC needs a title change... cause he is no longer near death, he's beyond it.

    Mexed Missages...

Yahoo hheadline says "Arafat is clinically dead" but the story says:

Palestinian Leader Arafat Is Alive-Hospital Says

CLAMART, France (Reuters) - Palestinian President Yasser Arafat (news - web sites) is alive, a spokesman for a French military hospital where he is being treated said on Thursday.

"Mr. Arafat has not died," chief doctor Christian Estripeau told reporters at the hospital.

He made the statement shortly after Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker said the 75-year-old Palestinian leader had died.

Arafat's aides said he was in a critical condition but gave contradictory details. Some said he was in a coma, others said he had been floating in and out of consciousness.

Palestinian security chiefs were called to an emergency meeting at Arafat's headquarters in Ramallah as concern mounted in the West Bank over the health of the man who embodies the Palestinian struggle for statehood.

A senior official in Ramallah said Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie took over some of Arafat security and financial powers on Thursday.

An official for the State Department said: "We have seen the reports (Arafat is dead). We cannot confirm them, we are working to see if they are true. link

Changes loom in Mideast politics. You could say "the Arafat's in the fire."

I still don't know what this man has done to have a net worth of over 5 billion dollars. That's so ridiculous in my mind. Most moguls in America don't even make that much, so does anyone know how he earned all that...I have my ideas but as they are politically motivated I'd rather hear someone else who might know for sure.

    By The Way...
If he's so concerned with the plight of his people, why wouldn't he be spending money on things to help Palestinians as opposed to spending it on the extermination of the Jews?

Imagine what the Palastinian people could do with 5 billion dollars?

I am sure the USA could sell them some weapons to even it up over there.

    ;)

    They could sell them WMDs.

If it was good enough for Iran and Iraq in the 1980s, it's good enough for the Palestinians today!
