Boring thread sorry. Anyone here sell term life insurance? Seems like there are many options.. low cost way to provide some death benefits for wife and kids. I'm sure it's not considered an investment and has flaws but being able to get a 200k - million policy for a somewhat low monthly or yearly fee seems like it would be something? Probably I'm missing something here. I have a small one I got when I had kids. It is not enough for her to push me off a cliff ( I don't think)
To me it’s betting you’ll die sooner then the insurance company believes you’ll live (and make payments) and for that reason I’m out. I can’t bet against myself, I’m the only one left rooting for me.
As someone who deals with retirement, term is great between now and when you get your retirement. So a 30 year old should look at a 30 year. A 40 year old should look at 20. etc. You can always get 10 year guaranteed renewable, but realize it will go up after every renewal. That's up to you. Price around. Google is probably a good tool for finding a good deal.
No one plans to die … especially of some rando thing like a pandemic or a car crash or any other low risk activity. I went to my 10th and 20th HS reunion. Each had a list of classmates who had passed. As an aside, car crashes led the way. Who knew driving a car in Houston was so dangerous?
If it's just you, that's cool. But term is mainly to make sure your family still has assets if you were to die, via accident or otherwise. Whole Life is for a burial policy if you can't afford the 10-30k it costs these days. UIL's I've never liked. Better investment options.
Oh well I’m not suggesting I’m immortal. And a lot of people have died from COVID that also didn’t believe they were immortal, a lot died before vaccines were even available, I’m just not feeling the connection your making on this one. I’m just saying the model, as I’m understanding it, is getting people to bet they will die sooner then they actually do (on average), and making profit on the payments. I’m not into gambling, and I do get a negative feeling to the thought of betting against my own life. Just my opinion.
Im not sure I get this connection either, but I'm certainly no expert and will bow out of the discussion. I'm not judging anybody for getting any type of life insurance, my post was intended to be light hearted. Happy new year brehs, protect yo fam!
Invest the money into the raw ingredients for meth -> Then start making meth -> Sell the meth - > Use the money to buy cocaine -> do cocaine. What were we talking about again?
